Currently lead a geographically dispersed research and development team for
the Lucent VPN Firewall product line; provide technical direction; manage
relationships with some customers and development partners.
Architected one of the best cloud-based element management systems for
security appliances and creating a unique differentiator for the product
line.
Established a development center in Bangalore, India; conceived and
implemented a unique hiring practice to staff up the development center;
hiring method later adopted by other divisions; mentored the new hires and
creating a effective and productive team in within 4 weeks.
Streamlined and developed processes, implemented best practices, and
improved productivity of the team; improved defect removal rate by 40%;
reduced defects/KLOC by 50%.
Proposed a number of new initiatives and potential product improvements
like seamless distributed reports, active-active realtime redundancy which
helped increase differentiators in a crowded product space.
Created and led a cross functional innovation sub-group to analyze
technology trends and to identify future evolution paths for the product

Created, groomed and managed global software development teams. Set up a
R&D unit for the company in India. Successfully grew and managed this
center and turned it into a working and productive unit.
Created and deployed the infrastructure in both locations, developed and
initiated data/Internet security, auditing, and best-practices procedures.
Initiated and developed the company wide disaster management procedures and
methodologies.
Performed security analysis of VoIP phone security and worked with
development team to developed VoIP exploits. Conceived the need for Load
generation and Vulnerability Assessment Tool (LAVA) and helped garner
support from Sipera management team to launch Sipera's LAVA security
service offering.
Identified the scope, requirements and the need for a Program Management
Office and played a key role in the establishment of the PMO; Created
Project Management templates for schedule management, estimation, risk
management, and performance management.
Worked on formulating partnerships (and possible M&A activity) with
external potential partners. Analyzed technology trends in the industry and
proposed new potential evolution paths.

Co-founded a small Security Services startup and provided technical
direction to the company in designing customized network security
solutions.
Set up a cutting edge cross functional, vender independent product

Communicated of project status, schedule development, and tracking to key
investors on a regular basis. The company was unfortunately shutdown due to
lack of funding.
AT&T BELL LABS Holmdel, NJ
Development Manager R&D 1994-2002
Managed and worked on numerous cutting edge technology projects in the area
of network security, internet telephony, voice recognition, and databases.
Key successes include management and development of a web based search
engine using content-based heuristics to search for similar patterns and
delivery of working product in record time. The project was based on Bell
Labs Research prototype. After a successful demo, this technology was
licensed and spun-off.
Designed and developed tools for instant communication between the
computers across the network. This was built in early 1995 and was a
predecessor to the current Instant Messaging Technology in use by Yahoo,
AOL and MSN.
