General Contractor - Classic American Homes, Inc. - Birmingham, AL - 1988
to Present
Own and operate a 2.2 million revenue residential building/remodeling
company operating in various counties and municipalities. Manage all
aspects of construction, financing, estimating, home design; hire all subs,
vendors, services, and sales personnel. Stay abreast of latest building
codes and work to build good relationships with building authorities. Keep
up to date on product innovations relating to remodeling on older
construction as well as new. Have a good reputation and achieved a high
level of client satisfaction reflected by repeat business. I enjoy making
things happen, the subs that I use do quality work at exceptional speed.
General Superintendent - Rime Companies - Birmingham, AL - 1985-1988
Completed 120 apartment units at Sharpsburg Manor Phase IV and 160 units
at Hickory Knoll, both tough mountainside locations. Also completed the 80-
unit addition to the Rime Garden Inn and assisted in the completion of the
880 units at Rime Village. My responsibilities included negotiating
contracts, estimating, supervising superintendents and subcontractors, and
all aspects of running the jobs.
Superintendent - Fortis Corporation - Birmingham, AL - 1984-1985
Responsibilities included taking the units from drywall to finish, all
aspects of quality control, completion of all units, and supervision of
subcontractors. Morning Sun Villas consisted of 180 executive apartments
on a mountaintop.
General Superintendent - Lifestyle Builders, Inc. - Houston, TX - 1983-
1984
Completed 38 homes in four subdivisions all around Houston ranging in size
from 1200sf to 4000sf and a 64-unit Condo project. My responsibilities
included negotiating contracts, estimating, supervision of subcontractors,
payroll, and quality and cost control.
Inspector - Total Inspections, Inc. - Houston, TX - 1981-1982
Performed structural and mechanical inspections on homes for investors and
real estate agents.
Vice President, Construction - U. S. Home Corporation - Houston, TX - 1978
to 1981
Promoted in less than two years from superintendent to Vice-President of
Construction. Simultaneously managed four subdivisions with ten direct
reports and supervised completion of four model parks. Responsibilities
were negotiating subcontractor contracts, supervising and training
superintendents, payroll approval, scheduling and consistently executing
milestones and completion deadlines as well as cost and quality control.
Trained 17 superintendents, one of whom set the company record with a house
built from ground-breaking to completion in ten days. Two other
superintendents under my supervision won prize money in the nationwide
construction contests.
