Beacon Industries Bloomfield, CT 1998-2003
Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Manufacturing Engineering Manager for aerospace components manufacturing
companies. As an Engineering manager I have performed the following
functions:
. Evaluate and reorganized entire Engineering departments to
facilitate growth and enhancement efforts.
. Formalize and document standard Engineering practices to meet
the needs of the manufacturing initiatives.
. Take responsibility for every function performed in the
departments that I manage
. Adapt Engineering operations to meet company and organizational
requirement.
Every manufacturing company is different. There are no universal practices
in Manufacturing Engineering as in other Engineering disciplines.
Manufacturing Engineering must be specifically geared to the needs of the
of the Manufacturing departments being supported.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Senior Manufacturing Engineer for complex machined components, fabrications
and assemblies. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer I performed the
following functions:
. Create detailed accurate operation sheets and operational
instructions.
. Implement new manufacturing processes into shop floor
operations. During the implementation of a new process I make
sure that the parts flow through the manufacting departments
with as little disruption to production parts flow as possible.
. Review, evaluate and correct existing problem operations and
entire processes to meet quality, delivery and cost goals.
. Design tooling to hold, locate and position material and semi-
finished parts for machining operations.
. Perform tool tryout to ensure that tools perform properly.
Design and implement any necessary alterations that may be
required.
. Participate in and lead teams of people to successfully plan and
complete large projects.
Manufacturing Engineering is a different job every day depending on the
needs of manufacturing. A Manufacturing Engineer must adapt to meet the
needs of the departments that he supports.

Manufacturing Cost Estimator Supervisor
Manufacturing Cost Estimator for complex machined components, fabrications
and assemblies.
As a Manufacturing Cost Estimator I performed the following functions:
. Create custom computer programs and data bases that make cost
estimating fast and extremely accurate.
. Involve others through out the company when needed to create
accurate cost estimates for complex parts new parts or new
processes.
. Apply knowledge acquired from my manufacturing back ground and
lessons learned from other parts and processes to the parts and
the processes to be quoted.
Cost Estimators need to know more about the company that they work for than
anyone else. An estimator must use everything that he knows and apply it to
the part or the process being costed.

Excel and Visual Basic Programmer
I have created the following Excel and Visual Basic programs:
. Cost Estimating. My estimating programs include data bases and
instant costs for standard practice. The programs that I create
update saved part number files instantly when ever hourly rates
or material cost change.
. Inspection methods sheet programs. These programs include
feature control symbols and all the graphical symbols needed
from engineering drawings.
. Data base down load programs. Utilizing a central data base for
information through data queries and then Visual basic
programming to improve the utility of an operating computer
system.
. MRP system that links individual production planners with a
central planning supervisor
Computer programs specifically geared for manufacturing are rare. If a
program is purchased off the shelf the company must adapt to the program
instead of the opposite. My programs are custom built to specifically meet
the needs of the company.

Trainer/Instructor
I am a very good teacher and mentor to the people who work for me or with
me. I have trained people to perform the following tasks:
. Manufacturing cost estimating. I have the ability to select and
train very knowledgeable shop floor personnel to use their
experience to become successful Cost Estimators.
. Manufacturing Process Planner. I have the ability to select and
train very knowledgeable shop floor personnel to use their
experience as a Manufacturing Process Planner.
Finding people with all of the needed qualifications is difficult and at
times impossible. I believe that giving people a chance to grow and improve
professionally benefits everyone.
