Manufacturing Engineer August 2008-May 2009
FN Manufacturing produces 70% of the United States small arms (I.E M16,
M240, M249 and the MK48). As a Manufacturing Engineer at FN Manufacturing
LLC. my responsibilities were broken into three different engineering
groups:
Manufacturing
. Responsible for keeping swage/cold forging machine line and the
line processes running
. Understand precision machining and Micron Tolerancing (1 Micron or
.004 min tolerance)
. Understanding Geometric dimensioning and tolerance and applying
them to company product
. Troubleshooting machine problems and processes
. Implementation of new product line for each machining station
. Continuous improvement of process
. 5S
. Lean Manufacturing.
. Assemble test materials and conduct tests to improve process
. JIT/JIC ordering and shipping
. Supervise machine maintenance and operators
. Responsible for ordering spare machine parts and tooling
. CNC lathe and milling
. Working under DOD standards
Quality Control
. Monitor and control good VS. bad parts
. Determining what quality checks needed to be in place to make sure
bad parts do not move down the line
. Metrology Measurement devices (IE, Micro-Hite, calipers,
micrometers, gage blocks and depth gages, comparators)

Toner Machining Technologies Inc is a job shop that manufactures
workholding fixtures and turnkeys for companies such as Caterpillar,
Turbomeca, Getrag and BorgWarner Turbo. As a Design Engineer my
responsibilities were:
. Responsible for designing machine fixtures and work holding devices
using Solidworks
. Geometric tolerancing dimensioning on precise locating datum's
. Created Engineering drawings and details for full assembly and job
shop parts
. Revamped in-house workholding fixtures to hold new parts in order to
save company money
. Depending process engineer, machinist and an assembly team to complete
a project
. Complete monthly safety checks to verify the plant and employees were
working within OSHA Standards
. Produce complete plant layout
. Keep up to date plant layout records and advise on movement or
placement of new machine
. Searched for Government contracts and learned how to submit to them
when found
