OBJECTIVE:
Intern position in the area of hardware/software design.
EDUCATION:
M.S in Electrical and Computer Engineering (graduation March 2011)
Current GPA: 3.75/4.0
Portland State University, Portland, Oregon
COURSE WORK:
Completed: Microprocessor System Design, GasP Research, System on Chip
Design with Programmable Logic, Embedded Systems, Computer Architecture,
Advanced Embedded in Silico and in Materio Computing, and Internetworking
Protocols.
In Future: Advance Computer Architecture, Digital Integrated Circuits,
Formal Verification of Hardware/Software Systems.
SKILLS :
Programming: Fluent in Verilog, C and Matlab.
Other: Hands on experience in working with FPGAs
MAJOR PROJECTS:
Microprocessor based control system - Embedded systems Project
The project involved developing hardware using Verilog and software
using C. Xilinx Spartan 3E development board was used. It required
learning the control theory, building and characterizing a circuit to
test the control algorithm. Integrating hardware and software designs,
working with Xilinx toolset were some of the skills attained through
the project.
Construction of an Arbitrary Waveform Generator - Embedded systems
Project
PC-based application communicates the choices made by the user, to the
FPGA via wired Ethernet using TCP/IP protocol. Implementing TCP/IP
using LWIP in socket mode was the challenging part of the project. The
project involved building a xilkernel based system.
Simulate a 4-way set associative L2 cache - Microprocessor system
design project
L2 cache was simulated in Verilog and various line replacement
policies used in caches were implemented. Handling signals between L1-
L2 caches and L2-memory was the challenging part of the project.
Simulate PDP-8 instruction set architecture - Computer Architecture
project
The architecture was simulated in C and tested with test codes written
in assembly language and verified on a PDP-8 emulator.
WORK EXPERIENCES:
1) Underwent in-plant training at the Electronics division of Electrical
and Mechanical department of PORT TRUST, Chennai Harbor. [2006-07]
Learnt the theory in working of Radar system and Telephone exchange
system.
2) Internship at LIFELINE SYSTEMS, Chennai. [2009]
Assisted the design engineers in designing and testing of
microprocessor based physiotherapy equipment.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
1) Won III prize in Paper Presentation event at the National Level
Technical Symposium conducted by SRM University, Chennai for the paper
"Microcontroller based anesthesia injector".
2) Won I prize for the Mini-Project "Muscle Stimulator" in Project
Presentation event at Cennova'08, a National Level Technical Symposium held
at Chennai.
