The New York Power Authority is the nation's largest state-owned power
organization and one of New York's leading electricity suppliers.
The Short Term Load Forecasting System(STLF) was developed to produce a
statistically based short-term (10 day) load forecast to predict customer
loads which is forwarded to the NYISO. It does this by developing account
level bottom-up forecasts built from models based on electronic billing
data, interval meter data and weather data. The goal of the system is to
reduce forecast error and minimize financial exposure in the real time
energy market.
The software which performs these operations is called Energy Vision
Enterprise
(EVE). The reports themselves are written in the Hyperion Brio reporting
tool and access Oracle tables. The Authority wanted these 24 reports to be
rewritten in the Crystal reporting tool.
