Developed, deployed, and managed a suite of WebSphere-based In tranet
applications, and oversaw the product management of KP's enterprise Message
Response Management system. This and other major areas of focus are outlined
below.
Project Managed Portfolio of Web Intranet Applications
• Project-managed development and deployment of six $50,000 to $1 million Intranet SOA-based
Java/WebSphere/WebLogic applications, ranging from 6 mos to 3 yrs in length. This included full SDLC
business/requirements gathering and analysis, including Agile User Story development & Use Cases. Used MS Project;
full Office suite; and Web-based centralized PMS system: Clarity. Utilized Vantive and Remedy change/incident
management systems. This included deployment of WebSphere apps to Dev environments.
• Developed and organized processes for managing 30 intranet applications: to address support and maintenance
issues. Aligned web support processes with IT support processes for Change and Incident management. Developed
Wiki support sites for each app; Developed Comprehensive Delivery Process (CDP) Support & Administration docs for
each; aligned 8 designated staff – including offshore support - for specific apps; and developed road maps for future
management of the applications. Acknowledged for increased customer satisfaction, productivity, and clearer
accountability. Work included migration of apps to current versions of WebSphere.
Product/Program Management of $6 million Enterprise Message Response Management Product Suite
• Focus on providing Web-based messaging response management, routing/workflow/escalation, security and case
tracking – an e-mail-based subset of Customer Relationship Management
• Designed & sized entire, SUN/Solaris and Wintel/NT based infrastructure.
• Scoped out, purchased, stood up, and rolled out SUN/Solaris and Wintel/NT server infrastructure.
• Worked with IT executive management to validate MRM strategy and architecture.
• Gathered requirements, did all Business Analysis (including requirement gathering with Borland Caliber), and developed
test plans.
• Developed plan for, & evaluated Message Response Management product suites from multiple vendors.

• Worked with senior executive IT management to present and validate plans for messaging infrastructure.
• Served as chief architect for national Kaiser Permanente Information Technology messaging team: developing
messaging strategy to lead Kaiser through a national consolidation of e-mail systems, and to meet future business
needs.
• Wrote RFPs, evaluated responses, made recommendations, and negotiated for major messaging backbone
products.
• Led design & implementation efforts for SMTP & X.400-based Messaging Backbone, including message routing &
gateways to/from nine different proprietary e-mail platforms serving 80,000 users, directory synchronization with
same, migration procedures, & Internet/Intranet interfaces. This included all HW and SW components: Sun Sparc
5000/3000/2000/1000/20/5s, Compaq Proliants, Solaris 2.x, OS/2, Win NT, and Control Data, Microsoft, & Fischer
messaging SW.
• Planned and led efforts to design and implement Messaging Hub and Gateway development / testing / turnover

Planned & Designed LDAP / X.500 Enterprise Directory Services
• Created a Directory Services team to support critical directory infrastructure needs throughout the enterprise.

Article VII. Planned, Developed, & Implemented E-mail Migration
Planned, organized, and led the following efforts:
• Development of administrative and programmatic procedures to facilitate the process of migrating nine different
distributed, mini, and mainframe-based e-mail systems in Kaiser Divisions across the country to Lotus Notes.
• Installation and configuration of migration tools to transfer stored e-mail from these systems to Lotus Notes.
• Installation and configuration of tools and management of programmers to convert and synchronize e-mail enabled
applications from these systems to Notes (and other distributed alternatives). Planning for, rollout of, and user
training for these migration tools.
Other Messaging and Intranet Efforts
• Architecture development, engineering, and support for 12,000 user MS Exchange environment, and conversion of
4000+ MS Mail users to MS Exchange and Lotus Notes.
• Design, engineering, and support for 4000 user Meeting Maker calendaring and scheduling environment.
• Support, including administration, system/user problem resolution, and upgrades to the legacy mainframe-based Tao
email & calendaring system (over 30,000 users).
• POP3 server support (via Netscape SuiteSpot).
