University's Environmental Health and Safety Department. Selected

Accomplishments:

o Designs and maintains database, and build reports for the Department of

Homeland Security Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standard (CFATS).

gas survey for the State Fire Marshall audit.

Responsible for the evaluation and identification of critical environmental

microbiology samples directly related to NASA's space shuttle program and

the International Space Station. Responsible for ensuring the microbial

cleanliness of the astronaunt quarantined living quarters, flight hardware,

and modules flown in space shuttles. Maintained a personal rapport and win-

win relationship with vendor and clients. Selected Accomplishments:

o Supported International Space Station, shuttle, and crew quarters

environmental microbiology monitoring which included bacterial analysis

for air, water, and surface samples.

o Identified bacterial and fungal strains proficiently using the BioMerieux

Vitek, and/or Applied Biosystems 310 16S rDNA identification systems for

various NASA Clients.

United States Navy, San Diego, CA 07/1999-08/2004

Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer Third Class

Responsible for the health of United States Marine Corps enlisted members

and commisioned officers, and their dependents. Efficiently performed

clinical laboratory analysis for over 20,000 Marine recruits per year.

Selected Accomplishments:

o Responsible for patient care, CPR certified, phlebotomy, result entry,

ordering lab test, clinical chemistry, hematology, urinalysis,

microbiology, serology, immunology, blood banking and transfusions

services.

o Responsible for G6PD and sickle cell screening, confirmatory, and other

testing for the entire Navy Region Southwest, handling in excess of

30,000 specimens per year.

o Biohazard and infectious waste handler.

o Preceptor for over 50 medical laboratory technician students, resulting

in a 100% graduation rate from the Naval School of Health Sciences.

o Developed system that expedited lab test result entry into medical files,

substantially decreasing data entry time.

o Trained new hospital corpsmen and civilian medical assistants in basic

laboratory and phlebotomy procedures, and how to properly handle and

dispose of bio-hazardous infectious waste, logging more than 100 hours of

training time.

o Successfully passed all College of American Pathologist Surveys from

o Contributed to the passing of the College Of American Pathologist

o In coordination with the Naval Health Research Center, assisted in the

sampling and testing for Streptococcus pyogenes, pneumonia and Bordetella

pertussis, helping to identify prevalent strains and antibiotic
