PROJECTS Power Electronics, Spring 2009
Designed and implemented a DC boost converter with minimal power loss and specified output
power. Calculated required specifications and simulated on PSpice to behavior. Implement
design on breadboard with calculated values and took measurements to insure required
operation.
Sensors Networking, Fall 2009
Designed and implemented a project that measures g-forces exerted on a moving object. Project
involved selecting appropriate components to measure, display, and log g-forces exerted on the
X, Y, and Z axis. A microcontroller was coded in C++ to network and control the components.
Working prototype was assembled and demoed.
Sensors Capstone, Spring 2010
Designed and built an underwater aquatic communication system among a fleet of underwater
aquatic gliders. This project is first of its kind to enable underwater aquatic gliders to
communicate with one another using onboard transducers. These gliders are often sent on a solo
mission to measure and record oceanic measurements across the ocean. Communication among
these gliders will enable coordinated formation which covers wider range, overlapped data
verification, power conservation, and more frequent GPS check-in via satellite.
