Sales Site

GILT Groupe, Ruelala, and Hautelook.

Everyday at 11:00AM I log on to my Ruelala and Hautelook accounts check the

sales and purchase if necessary. At 12:00PM I repeat on GILT Group and

later in the day at 3:00PM I check GILT's sister site Jetsetter for travel

deals.

Lets start with Ruelala...Has better upscale brands, great home brands,

men's brands and most importantly quick delivery and returns. I have seen

everything from Nine West shoes to Valentino dresses on this site at pretty

reasonable prices. I have made over 10 purchases on this site and was happy

with 8 out of the 10. I am normally pretty sure of the sizes that I buy to

prevent having to mail back due to wrong size. I have added some great

pieces to my wardrobe from this site.

Hautelook is my least favorite of the 3. Due to over marketing and crappy

delivery time I try not to buy too many things off this site unless it's a

really good deal. I have probably purchased 5 things off this site and have

returned 3 of them. Hautelook tends to have a little bit of a cheaper brand

but has really good kids clothes and toys.

Gilt Groupe started it all. They paved the way for all online "sample

sales" (and I use that term loosely), they have now turned into a large

almost "sample sale" department store. It is hands down the best out of the

three. Gilt Group offers the best brands, the widest range of product and

the most efficient delivery and return system. I have purchased over 15

items from Gilt Groupe and have only returned 2! Gilt Group's sister site

Jetsetter has also won my heart. As much as I love to shop, I also love to

travel and my favorite thing about traveling is picking out the coolest

hotel. Jetsetter takes new hotels or hotels that have a large amount of

rooms to fill and puts them at a discounted price on the site. They post

about 8 pictures of the hotel (normally from the hotels site) and they

write a review on the hotel. I have found some really great deals from

local to international hotels. Gilt Group has a men's site, home site, and

a wine site.

I have use the term "sample sale" loosely with this post because to me a

true sample sale is a sale that is of the sample sizes or model sizes that

a designer makes. Some of these items make it to production and some don't

so designers or brands have sample sales so get ride of this extra product.

The new online "sample sales" are not this type of a sale they are a way

for brands and designers to get rid of excess merchandise from prior

seasons. So what you are buying right now on Ruelala and Gilt Group are

most likely from last summer. So keep that in mind when you are buying

thing and try to purchase classic pieces and not last years trendy piece

that is no longer in style.
