Work Experience
Merck Co. & Inc., Rahway, NJ
09/2008-present
Programmer Analyst
Work for the Applied Computer Science and Mathematics Department and then
the Imaging Department, supporting various types of bio-signal and medical
image processing and analysis for compound efficacy validation, via Matlab,
and C++ (ITK). Raw data are mainly acquired from Visualsonics, Bruker, or
Siemens systems.
. Develop algorithms to obtain hemodynamic information from Doppler
signal along with respiration rate, blood pressure and ECG.
. Develop algorithms to extract and calibrate vessel waveforms from
Mmode image along with respiration rate.
. Develop novel biomarkers to interpret blood velocity waveform, vessel
wall property and wall motion, and ventricle strain.
. Perform general statistical analysis and visualize the result through
statistical plots.
. Design and deliver standalone GUI (graphical user interface) to
provide interactivity and visual feedback during biomedical
image/signal processing and analysis.
. Develop a PA Loop (blood pressure vs. vessel cross-section area) model
to optimize the search for the delay between the two signals.
. Develop algorithms to segment cortical and trabecular bones from MRI
DICOM images, and define biomarkers for quantifying the bone growth.
. Develop image segmentation algorithms and methods for calculating fat
distribution from MRI T2 images.
. In charge of an outsourced software development project for 3D
ultrasound image segmentation and reconstruction. With the automated
batch processing, this software saves about 60% processing time as
compared to the manual segmentation software.

Intern
Participated in a project to set up the AC system for a textile
manufacturing plant, from software simulation to hands-on motor control on
site.
. Performed simulation in Matlab Simulink for the whole closed loop
system of the manufacturing plant. Modulated motor parameters for
adapting the whole system to the textile manufacturing plant
environment.
