EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
November 2005-May 2010 Verizon Wireless, Sr. Programmer/Analyst/Project
Leader (Contract)
. As part of VISION (Virtual Information System Integrated Online
Network) Conversion team, I successfully integrated large and small
scale company acquisitions into the Verizon Wireless billing system,
including Alltel Wireless, Unicel Cellular Corporation and AT&T
divested markets totaling upwards of 13 million new customers.
One of my assignments was to merge various billing systems into one.
Verizon Wireless acquired many small wireless companies though out the
US and wanted to make all billing centralized. This project had 12
regions to convert, we successfully converted all regions. We got
unloaded table data from 'SOURCE' and 'I2K', which we massaged and
applied Cross-reference data to eventually map into new billing tables
one of 3 VISION instances. Analysts for various markets provided
cross-reference data. The whole process went through a control, edit,
validate, transform and load phase using flat files, VSAM files and
DB2 tables. Each phase reported error thresholds and checkpoints to
make sure that the process was working to satisfaction. This
processing report was provided to Analysts to verify the transformed
data. To improve conversion through put high volume data tables were
partitioned by either Customer or Invoice numbers to load by
partitions.
I managed this project with 4 developers.
. Also responsible for System Development Life Cycle methodology
including system analysis, program development, database
modifications, Functional/Manual/Regression and Parallel test as well
as coordinating UAT Testing to meet Quality Center requirements.
Implementation and production support of several programs in Cobol II
Batch, CICS, MQ, DB2/SQL as well as the use of IBM and BMC utilities.
Also setting up new data file transmissions (NDM) between internal
users and FTP TCP/IP to external clients. Lead CA7 testing/production
team of four for all acquisitions/integrations jobs. Also use of
VISIO, MS Project, MS Access, MS Excel and MS Word.
. Accomplishments: Project accomplished a 100% billing accuracy and 80%
increase in customer satisfaction as well as reduction of company
operating expenses by $750,000.
