Worked in several different groups within Merck's Information Services

As project manager, I was responsible for ensuring web-based project

success for the various Merck Manufacturing Division clients. Primary

The main objective of the group was to communicate, consult on, and

support the use of emerging web-based technologies to provide a web-

delivery channel to the Finance organization. As a project leader, I

was primarily responsible for leading a team of developers to meet the

objective of the group.

Development:

. oneFinance Initiative - Led and managed the effort of migrating the 15+

finance intranet websites into a single source of information with a

consistent look and feel for an easy one-stop user experience for all

finance-related information. Responsibilities focused around gathering

requirements through production deployment to managing a team of

developers.

. Portal Module Development - Responsible for managing and supervising all

efforts related to portal module development in support of our finance

customer-base. Portal modules add value by bringing many systems and

data together under one environment. Technologies used are Epicentric

Portal Server, JSP and Dreamweaver UltraDev.

. OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Compliance) - This area imports

information on illegal entities identified by the U.S. government and

ensures Merck's compliance with U.S. regulations to not conduct business

with them. I had cradle-to-grave responsibility for this project from

gathering requirements through production deployment to setting customer

expectations. The technologies used were JSP, Cognos Impromptu, Oracle &

Epicentric Portal Server.

. On-Line Course Registration System - Managed and led a team of developers

to create a web-enabled course registration system for our Finance

customer. Technologies used were JSP, Dreamweaver UltraDev and Oracle.

Architecture:

. Designed and implemented the web architecture that hosts the many Finance

web-enabled applications. The architecture consists of a combination of

the JRUN 3.0 webserver connected to the IIS 4.0 webserver running in a

Windows NT 4.0 environment.

. Created and administered the architecture of the Epicentric Portal Server

3.0.2 development environment for the FIS area.

Other:

. Managed, coordinated, facilitated and led a team of representatives from

the various departments within Finance Information Services (FIS)

organization to create a "look and feel" standard for consistency across

all Finance-developed web-applications.

. Conceptualized the idea of and negotiated with an outside training vendor

to offer a customized Java training program (Java programming, Servlets,

and JSP using JBuilder) to developers within the FIS organization.

. Effectively worked as part of the FIS Employee Opinion Survey team to

. Analyzed, designed and developed many intranet web-applications within

the EIS System including the STOCK, DAILY Sales and FLASH Sales
