. 2.5 years of Programming experience in C/C++.
Education:
PhD in Computer Science (currently pursuing) Aug.
2008- present
University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX
Master of Science in Computer Science & Engineering Aug.
2006-Aug. 2008
University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX.
Masters Thesis: Automated Integration of Biomedical Information for the
support of Genome-wide Association Studies.
Thesis work included extracting and integrating information from genomic
databases using various web technologies for the study of SNPs. This data
was used for studying the association of SNPs with susceptibility to
inflammation and other medical conditions. The system is implemented
using Perl and C++. This work was done in collaboration with faculty from
UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Dallas, TX. This work continued
towards PhD.
Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering July 1999-
June 2003
University of Mumbai (formerly Bombay), Mumbai, India.
Software Skill:
. Programming Languages: C, C++, Visual C# .NET, Visual Basic, Perl,
Java, XML.
. Platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac OS X.
. Technologies: SOAP, Multithreading using POSIX threads, PVM, ASP,
Socket Programming.
Academic Courses:
. Graduate coursework included courses in advanced algorithms,
Databases, Data Mining, Web Mining, Distributed Systems, Computer
Networks, Computer Architecture, Compilers, Bioinformatics, and
Statistics.
Work Experience:
Graduate Teaching Assistant August
2008- May 2010
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, UT Arlington, Arlington, TX.
Teaching Assistant for C Programming course for undergraduate
students: Grading homework assignments and tests, conducting office
consultations and supervising laboratory work.
Teaching Assistant for graduate level Bioinformatics course: Grading
and conducting office consultations.
Programmer March 2004 -
June 2006
Department of Chemistry, IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India.
Developed C/C++ programs on Linux platform to support research in
computational design of artificial proteins. Developed sequence
optimization simulator using Monte Carlo mutations of protein
structure. Designed and implemented efficient and scalable algorithms
using C++ with standard template library (STL).
Academic Projects:
. CD/DVD rental library system: Implemented using Oracle SQL and Pro*C.
. Email classification using Association Rule Mining: Implemented using
Java and Weka tool.
. Classification of Wikipedia articles: classification into different
types was done using link-based and content-based features of
articles. Implemented using Java, C++, Perl and Weka tool.
. Implemented various bioinformatics algorithms in C++ for string
matching and gene prediction using HMMs.
. Client and Server using socket programming in Java as well as C#.
. SOAP client in C# for spellchecker web service.
