1/99 - 3/2003 Ecolab Inc. through broker contract
Consultant
. Designed and developed a 3-Tier VB application with a
SQL7 database that automatically creates Remedy cases.
The application creates cases via a command line EXE,
implementation of a COM component, or implementation of
a generic error handling DLL.
. Designed and mentored the initial development of a 3-
Tier VB laptop application with data synchronization
from a SQL7 database to a MSDE database on laptops for
District and Territory Managers. UML and Use Case
Models were used in the initial design process.
. Converted the LIMS application from ACC97 to ACC2000.
Also upgraded Crystal Reports from 6.0 to 8.0. The
application consisted of 25 Crystal Reports and about 40
forms. When completed I also created a new setup for
the application using InstallShield.
. Designed and implemented a generic error handling DLL
with a COM interface. The component incorporates ADO
error handling, BJS (Batch Job Scheduler) options, and
Remedy case creations. This component was implemented
into several different application programs.
. Programmed and provided support/mentoring for the Edge
Advisor application. The application consists of 1900
users in the field with Windows CE devices.
. Mentored several people on other projects involving VB,
SQL7, synchronization, COM, and reports.
. Designed and developed an application for 150 TCD
service representatives throughout the country. The
project had 3 main parts. The laptop application, data
conversion, and synchronization of data from the laptop
back to the mainframe.
Developed the original phase of the laptop application.
Designed, coordinated, analyzed, and developed the WES
and Tunnel Washer features which were add-ons to the
project. Both the WES and Tunnel Washer phases were
completed on time with exceptionally few errors given
the complexity of the projects.
Aided in the development of the data conversion process
and in the selection of a synchronization package,
installation, and testing. I also installed and used
Visual SourceSafe for the project. The initial lack of
design documents, standards, and problems with
synchronization created several challenges. This
project had been attempted once in 1997 and again in
1998 and failed both times.

. I was brought in to help on a Phase II conversion of MDF
COOP application from CICS to VB5. The MDF COOP application
tracks advertising dollars given to Best Buy by its
Vendors. These funds total 40% of Best Buys revenue. I
shortly learned the original Phase I was 3+ months behind
schedule and several key members had left the company.
Even though I was brought in to do VB work, I got involved
and ended up being one of the main analysts and programmer
on the MDF COOP project for Phase I. The MDF COOP
application went into Production in August. When I
originally started, all CICS transactions were not working
and the batch process was a mess. I had no prior
experience with CICS but learned it quickly and ended up in
charge of all the CICS transactions and fixed all the
problems that existed at the time and completed testing. I
also rewrote about 70% of the batch process that had to be
redesigned.
Environment: WinNT, CICS, Cobol, and DB2
2/98 - 3/98 MEANS, Inc. through broker contract

. Converted the Rate-Of-Return spreadsheet from Lotus 123 to
Excel 97. The Rate-Of-Return model is a method by which
Minnesota Equal Access Network Services calculates and
analyzes the rate of return and profitability of its
regulated subsidiary. The spreadsheet consisted of several
worksheets and macros. All macros were converted to VBA
code.

. Designed VB5 application with Access97 database and Crystal
6.0 for U.S. Air Force Family Advocacy Program. This
program provides for the capture and storage of all
maltreatment data needed by FAP headquarters and DOD. The
program provides easy to use menus that the new database
design only requires data to be entered once. The program
automated the FMCMT, agendas, and minutes used at all bases
worldwide. The program also automated the reporting
processes: high interest worksheets, incident notes, status
letters, FAP and OPR notes, 2486 and 2522 forms, intake
form, letters to squadrons, and several other printed
reports. The program also automated the transfer of open
incidents from base to base and automated the archiving
process.
