Materials Manager - SAP
In charge of all the materials for Komatsu. This includes the Production
Planning, Purchasing and Warehousing Departments. The equipment produced
through the years included: Skid Steers, Backhoe Loaders, Wheel Loaders and
Forklifts. The computer software we use is SAP.
o Developed network and team-based atmosphere within the warehouse area.
Assigned tasks to ensure parts were in the correct location. Parts
that took hours to find are now located in minutes.
o Reduced Inventory levels from 6 MOH to 1.5 MOH.
o Implemented a Master Schedule for planning. Use 1 schedule for all
departments.
o Reduced shortages from 300+ part shortages down to an average of 30
parts per month.
o Directed improvement activities for the BOM by auditing the entire
workflow process.
o Implemented a multi-department system for implementing SAR (Special
Action Requests) system.
o Introduced the new WMS system (Epic) which automated many of the
warehouse functions.
o Revamped the ECN (Engineering Change Notice) process.

Komatsu officially implemented SAP in 2000. I was responsible for
implementing the In-bound Order and Demand section for SAP.
o Oversaw the PP/MM/SD areas in 3 different SAP implementation projects.
o Proficient in various areas in SAP (especially the PP, MM and SD
areas) - Variant Configurator, Production Orders, MRP, Forecasting,
Sales Order, and Purchasing.

Manager of North American Imports (and Master Data Maintance) - SAP
My responsibilities included all the import construction equipment that
comes into North America. The construction equipment included: hydraulic
excavators, crawler dozers, motor graders, mobile crushers and wheel
loaders. There were approximately 50 different models with many different
configurations and lead times to meet the customer's demand. I managed the
stockyard inventory levels, planned and forecasted future demand, created
new schedules, purchased existing machines and attachments, procured new
parts, maintained the BOM and Variant Configurator, and many other
activities. I oversaw 3 different stockyards in North America. The
computer software we use was SAP.
o Developed programs to monitor & track the inventory activities such
as, monitoring inventory age/levels, date management, vendor
assignments, stock control, safety stock volume and many more
functions.
o Supervised over 30 different new model start-ups. Some of the jobs
included: maintaining BOM and Variant Configurator, setting up
routings, allocating parts to work centers, modifying fixtures,
setting up Material Master records, creating vendor information,
purchasing/receiving/stocking new parts, creating detailed Master
Schedules, and reworking/selling obsolete parts.
o Directed the activities for the Schedule Review Meeting (SRM) for
Komatsu's North American import machines.

1994 - 2004
Production Planning & Control Manager - Mapics
Started as a Production Planning Coordinator and was ultimately promoted to
the Production Planning & Control Manager. As manager, my responsibilities
included: inventory control, production schedules, forecasting materials,
MRP, bill of materials & Variant Configurator, order allocations and
customer support. I was also involved with all new model start-ups and
shipping & receiving products from multiple stockyards to various locations
across North America. The computer software we used was MAPICS.
o Directed the setup activities of the complex Bill of Materials (14
levels). Ensured all the new parts were set-up and ordered in time to
meet schedules.
o Managed the Variant Configurator (link between the customer order
system with the Bill of Materials) and taught this material to various
Komatsu Plants in North America.
o Reduced the order processing time through various programs and
procedures.
o Improved on-time customer delivery.
o Reduced customer order changes from over 25 per month to less than 5.
o Reduced finished goods inventories (including aged inventory).
o Implemented various computer programs to help improve production
activity control.

Tapistron was an international company that produced million dollar
computerized tufting machines. I was responsible for purchasing/expediting
materials, maintaining production orders, updating the bill of material,
and running MRP. I was also responsible to all the warehouse functions
including shipping & receiving materials, picking & issuing parts, fixing
new part locations in the warehouse, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
The computer software we used was Platinum.
