Summary
Over the last 20+ years my skill set has evolved to include current
technologies and management responsibilities. My career has included
maintaining, troubleshooting and repair of many different types of
equipment and technologies to include computers, printers, refinery process
equipment, electrical/mechanical tracking equipment and high speed film
data collection devices.
I have excellent problem solving skills that have been useful when dealing
with user problems and troubleshooting equipment. I work well with groups
or independently to complete projects and tasks.
I have been required to manage, monitor and schedule vendors and
contractors in multiple projects. I successfully communicated the results
of those projects to upper management in a timely manner.
Professional Experience
Reed Elsevier - LexisNexis, Colorado Springs
Systems Engineer 1997 - 2009
Repair and troubleshoot computer networking equipment. This included the
configuration and maintenance of Cisco 6509 switches and 3Com Superstack
switches. Modification of AC/DC wiring and mechanical assembly of server
racks. Install and troubleshoot fiber optic cables.
Troubleshoot and repair printers and computer workstations. Many times
this meant replacing faulty components myself instead of scheduling the
vendor to do the work. I have had to accommodate a changing network
topology in a real-time operational environment.
Install and configure various systems including computer operating systems
on computer workstations, network servers, phone systems, tape backup
devices and network printers.
Facilitate the re-imaging of desktop computers by designing the processes
used and managing contract personnel to achieve the details of the work
required.
Handle various day to day processes to ensure the user population was able
to successfully do their jobs including the procurement of computer and
network equipment, train the end-users on application features and network
usage, facilitate computer and phone moves for entire groups, and manage
contract resources to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Banctec, Colorado Springs,
Computer Consultant 1996 - 1997

perform work without immediate supervision.
Fina Oil and Chemical Company, Big Spring,
Texas
Refinery Operator 1993 - 1996
Monitor temperatures and pressures to control refining processes and adjust
controls as appropriate.
Schedule maintenance around other refinery processes and perform lockout -
tagout safety procedures for maintenance to occur.
Safe handling of industrial chemicals and familiarization with MSDS sheets
DynCorp, Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, New Mexico

complicated instruments.
Collect visual data with high speed cameras for missile contractors.
Held a DoD Secret Clearance.
