Responsible for Company Microsoft Window servers for the deployment of new
databases including the Distributed Systems Database, DB2, and Microsoft's
SQL2000. Involved in this responsibility was installation of database
software, patching, upgrades,
sizing, creation of new databases, backups & restores and developing best
practice procedures for installation and use. Installed, maintained,
upgraded, and supported a Network Charge-Back system that utilized Crystal
Reports for reporting. Lead engineer for the operation of all Company
Microsoft Windows servers including maintenance, backup, restoration, and
recovery; establishment of procedures for the movement of new Windows
servers into production; integration of new servers into a mixed
Microsoft/Novell environment using TCP/IP. Identified, researched, and
specified required server hardware and network operating systems for
various Company departments. Performed preliminary pricing and server trial
negotiations with vendors for prospective new servers. Special projects as
assigned. On-call Windows Server Administrator 30% of the time and as
needed for any database issues.
