operations, equipment modifications and root cause failure analysis. Knowledge of preventive and
predictive maintenance plans for plant and production equipment. Supervisory experience of plant
maintenance employees. Capable of equipment repair specifications for large industrial equipment
to make improvements to OEM designs. Currently engaged in R&D of gas fired air conditioning
unit for commercial and residential installations.
EXPERIENCE
SOUTHWEST GAS CORPORATION Las Vegas, NV
2012 to present
Sustainability Engineer
Coordinate and perform functional testing of natural gas fired commercial and residential heat pump
HVAC units. Perform manufacturing improvement studies to reduce unit costs for fabrication of
large heat pump units. Design and Perform acceptance testing and evaluation of the engine and
refrigeration capacities of the unit as built, and develop solutions to performance issues as they are
identified. Evaluate pollution control methods for exhaust gas and liquid effluent. Perform detailed
root cause failure analysis of components and recommend design solutions to mitigate the failures.
Develop failure modes and effects analysis for these units and propose PM items and frequencies.
Coordinate noise and vibration studies for the mitigation of issues with the internal combustion
engine and the condenser fan used in the unit.
CHEVRON PHILLIPS CHEMICAL COMPANY, LP. Borger, TX
1996-2012
Senior Mechanical Reliability Engineer 2001-Present
Work involves identification of high cost maintenance areas, root cause failure analysis, project
scope, budget preparation, equipment specifications for process, reliability, and environmental
compliance projects. Manage several equipment improvement project s including improvements to
Hydrogen and H2S compressors, Specify, construct and implement Equipment Repair Preparation
Facility. Implementing Reliability metrics for plant. Review and implement condition based PM
system, including vibration analysis, lubrication analysis and infra-red thermography. Reports for
Maintenance Cost trends, Plant on-stream time and Equipment availability are developed and
published. Establish reciprocating compressor performance enhancements. Work as Rotating
Equipment Craft Team Leader, including functional supervision of 12 technicians.
Maintenance Planning 1998-2000
Manpower analysis for craft assignments and headcount for specific jobs, work order scheduling,
coordination with Operations for maintenance outages and material procurement for daily
maintenance requirements. Recently, fully trained and functional in SAP.
Design Area Engineer 1996-1998
Work involved development of projects scope and budget, Detail Design documents including
drawings and equipment specifications for process, reliability, and environmental compliance
projects. Two $1.5MM projects completed along with several smaller projects this year. Analyzed
and designed solution to 8 year old chronic problem of unsteady state, unsteady flow in the plant.
Developed solution to structural resonance in pump/piping system. Designed and installed high
pressure compressor station for H2S and CO2. Propane refrigeration system installation.

NORTH AMERICAN CHEMICAL COMPANY Trona, CA
1990-1995
Senior Engineer-Utilities 1995-1996
Provided technical direction for maintenance activities in a 65 MW coal fired co-generation facility.
Project management of plant renovation and improvement projects. Prepare and coordinate plan for
$7 million annual boiler outage. Prepare equipment repair specifications and modifications for
reliability improvement including excessive wear in coal handlers and large fan and blower
resonance. Results were significantly improved reliability of the equipment, reduced energy
consumption.
Supervisor of Reliability Engineering 1993-1995
Supervised 3 Engineers and 6 Technicians to implement Reliability Centered Maintenance. Initiated
employee empowerment in root cause failure analysis and management to correct equipment defects.
Initiated vibration analysis program in the plants. As a result of the Reliabil ity efforts, Maintenance
Expense was reduced from
$40MM /year to $25MM /year in 3 years. The plant on-stream time was increased from 93% to 98%
in this same period.
Project Start-Up Engineer 1991-1993
Project start-up engineer for $17.5 Million Fluid Bed drying technology for Soda Ash. Responsible
for Start-Up Commissioning, and Technical performance of project. Start-up completed on schedule
and within budget.
Sr. Mechanical Engineer 1990-1991
Design and coordinate installation of plant equipment and systems.
