Professional Experience
GEOTEST - MARVIN TEST SYSTEMS, Irvine, CA 2006 - 2009
HARDWARE TEST DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
. Work in fast-paced environment designing, integrating, and documenting
Test Program Sets(TPS) for commercial and military electronics and
test system development tasks. Develop, integrate and bring up the
Missile Launcher System to test the launchers of the F14, F16, and
F18. System trouble-shooting, debugging, and check out. Customer
support on failure after product shipped. Design activities include
hardware (Interface Test Adapters - ITAs), software, design and
integration. Use Altium 6, OrCAD, ATEasy/LabView, Logic Analyzer,
Digital Oscilloscope.
WESTERN DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES, Lake Forest, CA 2000 - 2006
PRINCIPAL FAILURE ANALYSIS ENGINEER
. Responsible for Failure Analysis of 3.5" and 2.5" Hard Disk Drives.
Performs failure analysis for drives that failed during product
development, manufacturing process, reliability tests, or customer
returned drives including qualification failures, line failures and
field failures. Failure analysis includes determining root-cause of
hard drive failure at H.D.A (Head and Disk Assembly) including the
read/write channel. In addition to performing analysis to root cause
of failure to ensure corrective actions are implemented on particular
failures to prevent them from occurring on future products and/or to
make sure we can prevent the same type of failure from continuing to
ship from our factory process via screens/additional tests.
SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY, Inc., Santa Maria, CA 1999 - 2000
DEVELOPMENT/ELECTRONICS ENGINEER
. Digital and Analog design, test, and troubleshoot ECL circuitry and
debug in support of test system for tape heads. Used ORCAD for
schematics capture, LeCroy oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer as well as
Network Analyzer, to work. Used Visual Basic and C for programming.
Achieved the 350 MHz Clock Generator board.
WESTERN DIGITAL CORP., Irvine, CA 1991 - 1999
Sr. PRINCIPAL HARDWARE TEST ENGINEER (1997 - 1999)
PRINCIPAL HARDWARE TEST ENGINEER (1993 - 1997)
Sr. HARDWARE TEST ENGINEER (1991 - 1993)
Served as a member of WD's Test Engineering department, developing
equipment and processes to perform production test of Hard Disk Drives and
the components used in their construction.
< Successfully designed and implemented circuits to measure Track
Average Amplitude and Overwrite for the Drive Test System.
< Generate test procedures.
< Replaced the Surface Analyzer with an improved design.
2. Designed the interface adapter and the preamplifier for 1.8" disk drive
tester.
3. Developed the Module Buffer Board (MBB) for the Burn In Tester.
4. Designed and prototyped the Clock Head Preamplifier Test Box.
Served as the Lead Engineer in Test Equipment Group (six technicians) to
design test fixtures for the DC100 Media Certifier, including the Main
Amplifier, Preamplifier, Surface Analyzer, FIFO, Mechanical Control, and
Glide Amplifier boards.
5. Generated the project schedule and completed tasks on time.
< Qualified the Disk Drive test process using Statistical Process
Control and Gauge Capability analysis.
CERPLEX TECHNOLOGY, Anaheim, CA 1989 - 1991
Sr. ELECTRONIC ENGINEER
. Designed and test adapter to debug the 8" floppy diskette control
card.
. Trouble-shooting the read-write channel.
. Team leader for 8" floppy disk drive related test equipment used to
certify diskette.
IBIS SYSTEM, Duarte, CA 1988 - 1989
Sr. ELECTRONIC ENGINEER
Responsible for 14" disk media certification test equipment:
. Maintained, set up, calibrated, and checked out Certifier (3PX 382)
. Responsible for error correlation between disk drive level and single
platter experiments.
CYBERDISK INC., Anaheim, CA 1984 -
1988
ELECTRONIC ENGINEER
Start up company that develop the hard disk for computer industry:
. Responsible for electrical design, schematic entry, prototype wire
wrap, test, debug, and documentation the Read/Write Spin Stand. This
test equipment was used to do read/write on media thru read/write
channel.
. Other responsibility was to design Contact Start-Stop Tester which was
used to do the wear test on media surface; to design the Friction
Tester which was used to measure the friction force between recording
head and media.
. Performed experiments on hard disk media of the company product and
reversed engineering on competitors hard disk media during the media
development.
