. Project management skills: Planned and managed several successful
projects in all the phases without fail, reliably and excellently
achieving successful and economic results. This entails planning-
strategizing, budgeting, organizing, coordinating controlling and
directing and reporting on the activities of the projects in all the
areas making all the necessary decisions.
. Editing, proofreading and design. This involved reading the
manuscripts for curriculum conformity, content level appropriateness,
correctness, accuracy and depth of coverage, language correctness,
appropriateness, grammar, sentence structuring and level of

. Publishing schedule management - This involved planning and
coordinating the activities involved at every stage of manuscript
development in order to meet deadlines.
. Recruiting content suppliers recruitment, training and nurturing -
This involved identifying and commissioning suitable authors,
identifying and negotiating with suppliers of art work and design work
as well as interviewing editorial staff. It also involved identifying
unexploited abilities in the various players and motivating and
encouraging them by guiding them through the process and giving them
the opportunity to develop the skill.
. Strategic thinker - strategic planning for all the projects under my
care. Recruited the players, shared the vision, targets and goal by

. Participated in 3 phases of strategic planning for Longhorn Publishers
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in 2002, 2005 and 2008. I have fully
participated in the implementation of the Strategic Plan realizing

. Excellent financial management and accountability - I planned and
managed the financial votes for the projects that I handled in and out
of the country. This involved recruiting the various content
suppliers, negotiating and paying for their services. It also involved
organizing and running writing workshops for authors, identifying and
negotiating with hotels for good rates to host our groups in workshops
to ensure good returns on investment.
. Leadership and problem solving skills - providing guidelines to all
that participate in the project in whichever way as authors, suppliers
or people working under my supervision, arbitration especially in
cases of disputes among co-authors or defaulting suppliers.
. Coordinating Departmental Budgeting and Project Planning - being the
deputy of the Publishing Manager, was in charge of coordinating the
editorial staff towards planning, budgeting and making publishing
schedules for new projects. This involved chairing consultative
meetings to come up with the projects to be proposed, rates to be paid
to suppliers, staff requirement, timelines to be targeted and the
overall financial obligation to be forwarded to the Management
Committee.
. Supervising the Science Editorial and the production staff and
liaising with suppliers of contents - overseeing day to day activities
of the staff in the department to ensure that resources were well
