Personal Statement

I am a driven, dedicated, and hardworking individual who is determined to succeed

i n any environment. Most of my experience has been with a local YMCA which has

t aught me core values of working with people and children in particular. However, I

have recently been working in customer service and sales which has bettered my

communication and customer service skills dramatically. I am more than capable of

learning from and excelling in new environments, and look forward to expanding my

work experience. I am seeking a position in which I can develop as an employee

w hile doing my best for my company and employer.

Work Experience

Sales Associate

L.A. Tan, Chicago, I L

As a sales representative at L.A. Tan, each employee works the salon alone.

Responsibilities are many, and time management is key in order to satisfy both the

customers and the employer. Some of my duties include:

• Promoting understanding and sales of the products, packages, and memberships

offered by L.A. Tan.

• Advising customers in the proper and safe use of products and machines in the

salon.

• Maintaining a welcoming, clean, and knowledgeable environment for potential

and existing customers.

• Running the cash register and computer which control the machines in the

salon.

• Opening and closing the salon.

Lifeguard

McGaw Y MCA, Evanston, I L

L ifeguarding at the YMCA included maintaining visual and auditory contact with

swimmers in one of two indoor pools at all t imes during the shift. Other

responsibili ties were maintaining a log of the number of swimmers, temperatures,

and noting customer comments and concerns. Occasional duties were setting up for

pool parties, locking and unlocking doors, checking children in and out of age

specific locker room, and performing basic cleaning.

Swim I nst ructor

As a swim instructor I worked with children ages six months to 14 years on water

safety and stroke development. Several classes included children that had learning

d isabilities, attention deficit, or autism. Creating a welcoming and fun environment

p romoted learning and the development and many rewarding experiences for both

me and the children.

Ba rista/Cashier/Server

Cosi, Evanston, I L

Most of my experience as a server at Cosi was closing the restaurant as the job was

held during the school year. Many responsibilities were associated with the job

w hich makes it hard to ti tle. I took orders at the counter and logged them in to the

computer, served the food as i t became available, made coffee drinks, and cleared

t ables. Other duties included:

• Mixing drinks and snack cups

• Arranging pastries

• Making smoothies
