Research done during post-graduation

. Research was done in patients of breast cancer who came in early
stages. Ultrasound guided FNAC of axillary lymph nodes was done in
patients of breast cancer and was then compared with pathology of
axillary nodes after they were dissected during Modified Radical
Mastectomy. It was derived from the research that patients with
negative results on Ultrasound guided FNAC could avoid the
debilitating axillary dissection.
. Research was done on wound infection in patients undergoing abdominal
surgery. Incidence of post- operative wound infection was calculated
in patients undergoing exploratory laparotomy, with one group of
patients being injected with saline in their wound prior to closure
and the other group being infiltrated with an antibiotic before
closing the abdominal wound. It was derived from the research that
patients in whom the operative wound was infiltrated with an
antibiotic prior to closure had very less incidence of post- operative
wound infection.
