Provide assistance in a full range of administrative duties for two chairs:

Department of Language & Culture Studies and Classics Department. Manage

and coordinate the daily operations of a large academic department; work

independently with relatively no supervision.

. Organize the office of the Department Chair of the Language & Culture

Studies and Classics Department and makes day-to-day administrative and

operational decisions on her behalf.

. Provide direction and guidance to assigned staff and student workers.

facilitate communications and critical information exchange. Handles all

assigned communication and correspondence including sensitive and

confidential matters.

. Coordinate personnel functions such as hiring, evaluations, etc.

. Prepare College Bulletin copy and reviews course descriptions each year.

. Manage production of departmental brochure and other publications (i.e

SCRAWL-student publication, SharePoint)

. Organize course scheduling activities for the department; including

assigning time slots with input form individual faculty members, requests

course approvals from College Curriculum Committee assigns numbers for

courses offered, etc.

. Screen incoming calls and visitors, determining what contact or action is

required for satisfactory disposition.

. Arrange travel schedule for Department Chairs and meetings and events for

the Language & Culture Studies and Classics Department.

. Coordinates arrangements with internal or external vendors for travel,

lodging, refreshments, guest speakers, presentation materials and

equipment.
