October 1988 to January 2000:
Pioneer Americas (now part of Olin Chemical) - Director Transportation &
Logistics. Responsibility of all outbound and inbound transportation.
Managed a staff of 19 associates, 7 barges and 2,200 railcars. Coordinated
shipping schedules/inventories for five (5) storage locations and six (6)
manufacturing plants.
( Reduced transportation/distribution costs annually in excess of six
figures.
( Implemented a "Temporary Voluntary Assistance" program based on economic
hardship with several carriers that lowered cost by a million dollars.
( Through creative planning reduced the cost on a major raw material every
year for 10 years.
( Designed a program for the movement of railcars that allowed for maximum
utilization of our fleet.
( Negotiated all contracts for Rates, Transportation Equipment and Storage
Facilities.
June 1982 to October 1988:
Transportation Management Consultants - President, functioned as Consultant
on Transportation/Distribution projects for Conoco, Eka Nobel, Occidental
Chemical, Negotiated price reductions/savings in excess of $1,000,000.
Blackburn Industries (Freight Audit Firm) - Manager. At the same time I had
my private consulting practice I managed Blackburn with over 75 clients.
Managed a staff of 6 people.
November 1970 to June 1982:
Occidental Chemical - Manager Chemicals & Plastics - Supervised a group of
twelve (12) people with responsibility for all Chemicals and Plastics
shipments. Major activity was negotiating rates/contracts with Rail/Truck
carriers in US, Canada and Mexico. Savings annually in six figures.
