SAMPLE PROJECTS
WESTWINDS MASTER DEVELOPMENT PLAN San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas
The project involved approximately 600 acres of residential,
commercial, school and recreational park development. My tasks included
preparing development plan and extensive research in preparing stormwater
reports, tree delineation plan, utility reports. The development plan
included extensive design of streets, detention ponds, storm drains,
sanitary sewer system that included lift station and force main, potable
water system, and site grading. In addition to this I prepared cost
estimates for streets, drainage structures, sewer, and waters system. In
addition I have been a part of several other master development plans of
minimum of 300 acres: Mesa Del Norte, Sonoma Ranch, Trophy Ridge,
Grandview, and Mountain Lodge.
WESTWINDS EAST UNIT-2 PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD) San Antonio, Bexar
County, Texas
Westwinds East, Unit-2 is a 30.74-acre single-family residential
subdivision in the northwest of Bexar County that consists of 68 lots. On
this project, I was responsible for all the design for streets, drainage
channel, sewer and water systems, and preparation of the subdivision plat.
The project involved analyzing approximately 3,930 linear feet of unnamed
tributary of Culebra Creek. Based on the ultimate discharge I designed an
improved 3,930 linear feet of earthen channel and a multiple box culvert
structure for future development. I created an ultimate development HEC-RAS
model from the existing model and modeled the improved channel and box
culvert to define a 100-year ultimate development flood plain for the site.
I performed similar design and/or analysis tasks for the over 50
subdivisions.
LONESTAR PARKWAY (STREET RIGHT OF WAY) San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas
Westwinds Unit-10A is an 86-foot major thoroughfare with four 12-foot
lanes divided by a 14' median. This project included 4,222 LF of street
extension that connected existing Lonestar Parkway to Texas Department of
Transportation (TXDOT) Hwy FM471 (Culebra Rd). I established the horizontal
alignment and vertical grades for this street. As part of street design, I
also established grades for several intersecting streets, including a
detailed striping plan for the intersection of Culebra Rd and Lonestar
Parkway. I coordinated with TXDOT regarding the future design of the
street and the drainage improvements along the new FM 471. In addition I
have worked on Westwinds Unit-9 (Westwood Loop - 3,733 LF), Westwinds
Wildpine (Wildpine - 1,360 LF), Westwinds Wildpine, Phase II (Wildpine
-2,631 LF), Stevens Ranch Parkway Unit-1 (Stevens Ranch Parkway - 3,400 LF)
TUSCANY HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEISD, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas
For this 22.98-acre proposed elementary school site, I designed public
drainage system meeting City of San Antonio requirements and also based on
the site layout I designed the private drainage system for the entire
school. I also designed 1,560 feet of on-site sanitary sewer main and
prepared a Sewer Collection System Application as required by TCEQ. I
designed the vertical and horizontal alignment of the drainage system that
included junction boxes, grate inlets, and 4-way inlets. In addition to
this project, I performed similar design and/or analysis tasks for the
following project: Bulverde Green Elementary School- NEISD (20.18 Acres)
LONGHORN QUARRY NEW ATHLETIC STADIUM San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas
The sport complex consists of three facilities; an athletic stadium
facility with 11,000 seats, a convocation center/sport arena with 12,000
seats and a baseball stadium with 2,000 seats. I was involved in preparing
a Master Drainage Plan for the athletic stadium that included parking lots
and open spaces around the stadium. I prepared construction plans and
assisted other E.I.T's in preparing Stormwater Management Report in
compliance with City of San Antonio's requirement.
DRAINAGE STUDIES:
E HOUSTON STREET BRIDGE HYDROLOGY AND HYDRAULIC:
Using the preliminary DFIRM model run the existing conditions model to
determine the 100-year water surface elevation and its impact on the
existing structure. The steps involved obtaining a preliminary DFIRM model,
analyzing existing conditions. Verify the existing HEC-RAS model with field
verified data and correct any discrepancies. Modify the existing conditions
model and include cross-section and the new proposed bridge structure and
determine its impact for flooding and 2000' downstream habitable
structures. Recommended appropriate channel modification and solutions to
maintain safe water surface elevation and water velocities. For E Houston
Street project I was involved in the Hydraulic and Hydrology analysis for
replacing existing bridge with a 300ft single slab bridge and designing
appropriate channel structure underneath the bridge. In addition to this,
I was involved in Hydraulic analysis of Laredo St. Bridge, W. W. White Rd.
Bridge, Mulberry and Millrace Bridge.
WESTWINDS MASTER DRIANAGE PLAN (1500 Acres) San Antonio, Bexar County,
Texas
Design Engineer responsible for developing the Ultimate Condition
Drainage Master Plan and preparing flood studies for the proposed
development. The project involved analyzing approximately 3,930 linear feet
of unnamed tributary of Culebra Creek. There was an original HEC-RAS model
that delineated an existing condition 100-year flood plain for this site.
According to the City of San Antonio requirements all of the proposed
development house pads shall be placed outside of 100-year ultimate
development flood plain. I created an updated ultimate development master
drainage plan that was ultimately used to design all the units with
Westwinds Master Development Plan (MDP) No. 808-E. I performed the
hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of the entire area using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS
and City of San Antonio, Bexar County and FEMA guidelines. I modeled and
analyzed several culvert crossings for the various storm events. I computed
water surface elevations for existing, proposed and ultimate conditions and
mapped the 100-year floodplain of creek tributaries. I was also responsible
for submittals, comments, responses and approval from Bexar County, City of
San Antonio.
HILLS @ BOERNE STAGE (296.95-Acre) San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas
Hills @ Boerne Stage II, PUD is a 296.95-acre single-family
residential subdivision consisting of 126 lots ranging from 1.1-acres to
5.4-acres, located near the intersection of Boerne Stage Road and
Interstate Highway 10. The proposed improvements for this property include
residential lots, a park, and a water production facility. My primary task
was conducting stormwater analyses in order to determine the impacts to
habitable structures 2000 feet downstream and to delineate the variable
width drainage easement within the property due to increased impervious
cover. Using HEC-RAS and the proposed ultimate discharges from the site I
delineated 100-year flood plain 2000 feet downstream. I prepared a
detailed master drainage plan for the PUD and identified culvert crossings,
earthen channels, and curb inlets. I also completed construction plans and
prepared hydraulic calculations for each culvert crossing as well as for
drainage channels leading to Leon Creek.
WESTWINDS WEST DENTENTION BASIN (250 Acre) San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas
Design Engineer responsible for analyzing the impacts of the proposed
development on an unnamed tributary to Medio Creek and design of a
detention pond to offset the increase in runoff due to the proposed
development. Westwinds West is an approximately 250 acre single-family
residential development located in western Bexar County in the City of San
Antonio, Texas. I designed a detention pond using Hydraflow Modified
Rational Method. I performed the hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of the
entire area using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS.
