Electrical Technician Apprentice
. Proficient and knowledgeable with designs, construction, installation,
testing, calibration, maintenance and repair of electronic systems and
industrial electrical equipment such as transformers, devices, motors and
machinery ranging from fractional to 15,000 volts, as well as complex
instrumentation, communication and computerized control systems, used in
the production, treatment, storage, transmission and distribution of
potable water.
. Tests, troubleshoots, locates and calibrates, repairs and performs
preventive and predictive maintenance on a variety of industrial
electrical and electronic systems.
. Troubleshoots components and devices associated with the production,
treatment, storage, transmission and distribution of potable and
reclaimed water.
. Rebuilds equipment to manufacturer's specifications, including industrial
motors, motor controllers, flow and pressure transmitters, power metering
enclosures, level instruments, gas monitoring and detection equipment,
uninterruptible power supplies, storage tank cathodic protection
rectifiers, audio-tone transmitters, scientific instruments and other
devices using operational performance standards, and standard and
specialized testing equipment.
. Replaces hardware, circuit boards, power supplies and other components in
computer-based control and data acquisition systems.
. Recalibrates, adjusts and corrects defects in instrumentation.
. Repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, storage
batteries, switchboards, controllers, conductors, switches and other
industrial electrical fixtures in making additions, extensions and
modifications in electrical systems.
. Installs, maintains and repairs electromechanical, electronic and
electrical components of equipment and machinery, including transformers,
transfer switches, exciters, generators and pneumatic and hydraulic
devices.
. Performs preventive maintenance and repair of plant, field and shop
electrical and electronic systems, components, devices and equipment,
including hazardous chemical feed and storage systems, filters and
flocculators, laboratory equipment, flow stations, reservoirs, motors,
pumps, valves and transmission pipelines.
Janitorial and Maintenance
. Supervise in-house services such as laundries, maintenance and repair,
dry cleaning, and/or valet services.
. Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and
established standards.
. Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and
maintenance of equipment.
. Plan and prepare employee work schedules; Check equipment to ensure that
it is in working order.
. Confer with staff in order to resolve performance and personnel problems,
and to discuss company policies.
. Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities in order to
determine the type of work required.
. Inventory stock to ensure that supplies and equipment are available in
adequate amounts.
. Investigate complaints about service and equipment, and take corrective
action.
. Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational
efficiency.
. Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are
provided in an efficient and timely manner.
. Establish and implement operational standards and procedures for the
departments they supervise.
. Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair
work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
. Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of
linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces.
. Advise managers, desk clerks, or admitting personnel of rooms ready for
occupancy.
