Regional Underwriting Manager responsible for the supervision, evaluation,

professional development, training and coaching of an underwriting team

consisting of 10 senior underwriters including developing and implementing

team's annual budget and underwriter production goals. The accounts typically

handled range in premium from $25,000 - $500,000. The team's 2009 year-end

gross written premium was $12mm with a 47% accident year loss ratio and 92%

retention. Charged with setting and executing operational objectives and plans

aligned to the strategy of the business unit, I am also involved in designing,

recommending and applying changes to processes and systems. Ensure the team

completes appropriate documentation in accordance with established corporate

guidelines and policies as well as provide team with tools and resources to

assist in making appropriate underwriting decisions. Manage an exclusive

with numerous brokers in the Southeast, South Central and Mid-Atlantic Regions.

06/03 - 04/07 Harleysville Insurance Group

Moorestown, NJ

CL Territory Manager whose responsibilities included quoting, pricing &

underwriting new and renewal policies, for more complex and/or service sensitive

accounts with premiums ranging from $100,000 - $600,000. Managed an

underwriting team consisting of two senior and 2 underwriters, an associate

underwriter and two raters including directing workflow, conducting team

meetings, communicating information about assigned agencies to the team,

development of team members based on needs and recommending improvements in team

processes. Over 4 years, my team successfully wrote $25mm in new business while

maintaining a 42% calendar year loss ratio and 85% retention. Provided guidance

and assistance to agencies in meeting their volume and profitability

commitments; over the 4-yr period all agents grew their books by double digits

while maintaining loss ratios in the low 40% range. Top brokers worked with are

million book of Middle Market Commercial Business with premiums ranging from

$150,000 - $500,000. Supervised support staff including Underwriting

Technicians and clerical team. Duties include accept, reject and modify

new/renewal accounts based on target segments and company guidelines; along with

managing agent's portfolio including profitability, growth and incentives.

Conducted weekly marketing visits to agents to monitor their performance and

prepared call reports.

Production Underwriter responsible for successfully developing a business plan

to grow and develop current $8 million book of Middle Market Commercial Accounts

with premium ranging from $75,000 - $275,000 while producing a profitable loss

ratio (less than 45%) and maintaining strong agency relationships. Managed

Mobile Home and Film Production Programs including establishing guidelines, risk

selection, setting & filing rates, quarterly audits and supervising

underwriters; these programs grew over 5%, had 98% retention and accident year

loss ratios of 46%. Assisted with the development and monthly training of

internal staff. Acted as the branch Inland Marine Specialist responsible for
