Sr. Programmer. Modified, tested and installed COBOL programs for the

CyberLife system, a life insurance application. Wrote complex report

program for insurance riders, reading both a policy master and producer

exchange files. Retrieved coverage data by reading VSAM inforce policy

master randomly with a key. Modified error logic to set error when an

online file was closed, then added logic to 5 programs in call chain to

display error (both New Business and Inforce). Corrected print of major

reference file by applying 3 vendor modifications from future releases.

Saved significant time and money by reformatting an interim file with an

IBM utility rather than writing a program. Also installed software

releases, wrote documentation, and worked in on-call rotation.

Southwestern Life, 12/1996 - 10/2000

Sr. Programmer. Modified, tested and installed COBOL programs for the CK4

system, a life insurance application. Learned and administered weekly file

maintenance that fixed, purged and loaded records to master files, which

brought stability to the process, and was commended by my manager.

Generated correspondence to policy holders that explained company policy in

situations of both tornado damage and company name change. Correspondence

merged name and address extract file with form letter and forms flash

letterhead. Converted dates in an ALC annuity subsystem for the year 2000

project.
