information. APS retains this base information in a centralized

manner to ensure that information used by multiple applications

is applied consistently throughout the system. Since this

information will be applied across many applications throughout

the system, it will be imperative that it will accurately

reflect the nature and structure of each fund. Inputting and

verifying this information will be the first step to gaining

access to the functionalities of the APS system.

Aggregation and Mediation solution. It is an integrated element

management system that provides broadband access network

operators with a standards-based, carrier-class management

system that meets their requirements in terms of scalability,

reliability, performance, ease of use, and ease of integration

with other Operations Support Systems (OSS). Net Act for

Broadband is a Java-based J2EE architecture easily adapts to a

broadband access network of any size, including any combination

of Nokia D50 (e) 1, D500, Subscriber Management System (SMS 500,

1800, and 10000), and Smart Edge 800 (SE 800) network elements.

Net Act for Broadband stores all Nokia DSL network attribute

data for managed objects in a server-based, Oracle8 relational

database, which offers Net Act for Broadband client's access to

real-time and historical data. In addition to its network to

port drill-down and rapid profile-based provisioning

capabilities that provide a user-friendly management interface

for all Nokia broadband network element types, Net Act for Broad

band's standards based XML and CORBA Northbound interfaces allow

for fast integration with existing OSSs, including third party

products. Net Act for Broadband intuitive graphical user

interface (GUI) features topology, fault, inventory,

configuration, performance and security management, as well as

cut-through command line interfaces. Operators can rapidly and

easily navigate from a high-level network view to a port or

connection level view to gain access to all configuration,

fault, and performance information supported by the network

element.

differentiated service enhancements to the Internet protocol are

quality of service in Networks employs a small, well-defined set

of building blocks from which a variety of aggregate behaviors

may be built. A particular packet, in the IPV4 TOS octet or the

particular forwarding treatment, or per-hop behavior at each

network node. The service may be either end-to-end or intra-
