PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Network Administrator (Shift Lead)

United States Navy, Balad, Iraq October 2009 to October 2010

. Forward deployed as a U.S. Navy reservist to Combined Joint Special

Operations Task Force, Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP) in support of

U.S. Army and U.S. Navy Special Forces. Manages a team of eight

network technicians as one of the two shift leads for the department.

Performs daily upkeep and maintenance of the TS/SCI (Top

Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information) Network, SIPRNet (Secret

Internet Protocol Router Network), and NIPRNet (Non-classified

Internet Protocol Router Network) to include multiple servers

(physical and virtualized - VMWare), Cisco switches and routers, and

associated cryptographic equipment. Maintains configurations and

security on 85 Cisco switches spanning 3 networks, while supporting

upwards of 1,000 users. Installs software (various; dependent upon the

customer's needs), hardware (network hardware, cabling, PCs, Cisco IP

phones, printers, etc.), and Operating Systems on user workstations,

as required. Manages all local and remote CJSOTF-AP TS/SCI, SIPRNet,

and NIPRNet user accounts via Microsoft Exchange Server and Active

Directory (Windows Server 2003).

Information Technology Associate

Southern Environmental Law Center, Chapel Hill, NC December 2008 to Present

. One of three system administrators who support and maintain SELC's

multifaceted network and associated users in seven offices, across

four states. Manages up to 90 user accounts via Active Directory

(Windows Server 2003) and Microsoft Exchange. Operates and maintains

Citrix Presentation/MetaFrame servers, "Thin Client" user accounts

(Citrix), and SELC's Virtual Private Network (VPN), providing domain

access for distant and other external users. Programs and maintains

SELC's Alcatel-Lucent phone system to include phone switch, server,

and desktop phones. Responsible for the management of SELC's

BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), BES user accounts, BlackBerry

Systems Analyst

Systems Technology Forum, LTD, Fredericksburg, VA April 2008 to December

2008

. Provided engineering level support to various Department of Defense

(DoD) telecommunications programs. Utilized Commercial Off-The-Shelf

(COTS) equipment (Cisco routers, Internet Protocol (IP) Modems,

Performance Enhancing Proxies (PEP), cryptographic equipment, etc.) to

provide users with an interface to the Defense Information System

Network (DISN). Evaluated customer and operational needs to define

system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and

assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program

interfaces. Supported the planning, organization, implementation,

testing, and monitoring of equipment requirements, as set forth by the

customer. Created briefs, PowerPoint presentations, "white paper"

studies, and configuration guides to provide a better understanding of

program solutions to the customer.

Satellite Communications Technician (Shift Lead)

United States Navy, NCTS NAPLES, Naples, Italy Jan 2005 to Feb 2008

. Operated and maintained AN/FSC-78C, AN/GSC-52A, AN/GSC-39C heavy and

medium Super High Frequency (SHF) earth terminal satellite antennas

and associated satellite links. Provided strategic links, internet

services, phones, tactical voice, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC)

capabilities to United States naval ships and various land-based users

via Super High Frequency (X-Band). Adept in the operation and

troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment to include, but not

limited to: modems (BEM-7650, SLM-3650, OM-73, etc.), transmitters,

receivers, multiplexers (FCC-100, ETSSP, etc.), patch panels, Cisco

switches and routers, firewalls (Cyberguard), timing standards

(Cesium, GPS), MIDAS (Multiplexer Integration DCSS Automation System),

and multiple encryption devices (KIV-7, KIV-19, KG-84, etc.). Managed

a team of up to 7 operators and technicians. Directly responsible for

the moment-by-moment operation of all satellite communications, all

conditions within the satellite communications facility, and all

administrative and personnel issues while on shift. Maintained master

station logs, equipment inventories, and over 400 cryptographic keys

and devices. Provided detailed outage reports to attached U.S. Navy

war ships, shore stations, and management via Microsoft PowerPoint

presentations and Microsoft Word documents.

. Performed daily upkeep and maintenance of SIPRNet (Secret Internet

Protocol Router Network) and NIPRNet (Non-classified Internet Protocol

Windows and UNIX based) on multiple servers and workstations, as

required. Managed over 400 Windows NT user accounts via Microsoft
