Paid internship to research rock composition utilizing various technologies

including core sampling. Attend various seminars on resume writing, data

presentations and interviewing.

Student Assistant Webmaster, OSU Library of Geology, Columbus OH -

September 2007-June 2009

Primary programmer for the OSU Library of Geology webpage, responsibilities

included maintaining the code of the webpage, creation of new pages,

reformatting old pages, troubleshooting hardware and software issues on

Microsoft equipment, and adding new content. Utilized computing languages

including HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and CSS, as well as database management.

Investigated chemical dissolution rates of Calcium in volcanic rocks

Volcanic rocks on high standing, tropical islands erode very fast, leading

to release of much more Ca+2 ions than previously accounted for. Currently

determining the base levels of Ca+2 in volcanic rocks from Panama and

Dominica by microscope analysis and X-Ray Fluorescence of glass beads made

from the sample, which were prepared using a diamond blade saw, jaw crusher

and lava machine. Combined with weathering rates obtained by others, will

set a baseline erosion rate to determine the subsequent Carbon absorption

rate.

Intern, ODNR, Columbus OH - March 2007-May 2008

Worked updating the Ohio Geological Survey's online bibliographic database,

entering data into an online submission form. Utilized skills in GEOREF to

verify and correct database information.
