Lead campus photographer for the St. Kate's Photo Bureau
Assistant Mentorship Program (AMP), (SCU), January 2008-May 2009
Assistantships are high-level positions to granted select students to
provide opportunities to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
mentors, gaining professional experience through paid work. I was granted
an assistantship to work with Andrew Ferron in the office of Marketing and
Communications to create, implement and evaluate three separate projects
over the past two years. During these projects I served as student liaison
with staff and faculty in weekly strategy meetings, e-mail and phone. I
will be completing the last project in May.
Responsibilities included but were not limited to:
. Taking faculty and staff portraiture
. Capturing campus life 'stills'
. Producing feature photos for the news site
. Shooting and editing 'cut out' photos for the new university website
(see www.stkate.edu for sample of photo work).
. Organizing photo shoots, assigning and directing other student
photographers.
AMP projects
Lighting and Portrait, January 2008-May 2008
Virtual Tour, June 2009-Decemeber 2009
. Conducted research on existing virtual tours of colleges and
universities around the United States.
. Collaborated with Web team to Identified features to design a
concept for St. Kate's virtual tours of both St. Paul and
Minneapolis campuses.
. Assisted mentor to plan which features/buildings of campus will
be highlighted, planned visual elements and outlined written
portion.
Photo Bureau student manager January 2010-May 2010
It will be my responsibility to spend time in the office on a near
daily basis to stay on top of incoming requests and campus events for Photo
Bureau to cover. I will work with younger photographers to teach new
techniques and advance their skills, both technically and artistically. I
will assist with preparing equipment for outgoing assignments and check-in
incoming equipment from completed assignments. Along with my mentor, we
will collaborate to ensure post-assignment editing is being completed in a
timely fashion by other photographers and that files are staying
organized. I will also manage the photo files to insure organization.
