2009 to 2010 Senior Manufacturing Engineer, The Knox Company, Phoenix, AZ
Engineering support for the machining and assembly of electro-mechanical
locking mechanisms and vaults used in the fire fighting industry.
Supervised the Machine Shop, Assembly, and Maintenance departments,
established quality standards and implemented a Quality department,
determined best method manufacturing procedures, created detailed process
work instructions, trained assemblers, established time standards,
implemented cost reductions and error proofing, tool and fixture design
using Solidworks Cad system, capital equipment procurement, plant layout,
support to the Design department for design for manufacturing, and
interfaced with suppliers to resolve quality issues and reduce cost.
1999 to 2009 Manufacturing Engineer, Printek, Inc., Benton Harbor, MI
Engineering support for assembly of high-speed electro-mechanical dot
matrix and thermal printers including their circuit board assemblies.
Responsibilities included supporting the shop floor on a daily basis,
trouble shooting, creating and maintaining written work instructions and
Bill of Materials, designing assembly tooling and machining fixtures,
supervision of the machine shop, plant floor layout, equipment
specification and procurement, CAD design of components and assemblies used
on the printers or sound enclosures, sourcing parts and assemblies and
working with vendors to resolve quality problems and reduce cost. I am
proficient with Solidworks CAD system, MS Word, and Protospec CNC machining
software.
1998 to 1999 Process Engineer, Diesel Technology Company, Kentwood, MI
Process Engineering support for high volume production and testing in a
lean manufacturing environment of diesel fuel injectors used in the
transportation and power generation industries. Responsibilities included
design of assembly and test fixtures, assembly and test work instructions,
SPC process control, SPC qualification of equipment, ISO 9000 conformance,
continuous improvement projects, cost reduction, FMEA and PFMEA
preparation, 8D corrective action disposition, evaluation of customer
returns, and working closely with the customer to resolve quality issues.
1987 to 1998 Production Engineer, Vickers Electromechanical Div., Grand
Rapids, MI
Production Engineering support for assembly and testing of electro-
mechanical actuators and pilot controls for military and commercial
aircraft. Responsibilities included "hands on" support of the shop floor,
creation and maintenance of written instructions and illustrations for
assembly and testing of products and operation of all special equipment,
hazardous materials team member, design of assembly tools and test
fixtures, Kaizan continuous improvement, work cell development, shop floor
implementation, cost reduction, error proofing, and progress reporting.
