April 1994-Received training offered by Queens Compute of Charlotte in
Microsoft Word and Excel.
May 1991 to December 1992-ECPI, Greensboro, North Carolina-graduated cum
laude with a diploma in computer technology. Received awards for
scholarship and attendance. Completed courses such as basic programming,
digital electronics, and mathematics. ECPI is accredited by the Career
College Association and by the Occupational Commission of the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools.
August 1971 to June 1975-East Davidson High School, Thomasville, North
Carolina-diploma in general studies.
EXPERIENCE
August 2002 to Present- Repair Technician, Furnitureland South, Jamestown,
North Carolina. Repair damaged furniture using clamps, glues, epoxy, burn-
in, Mohawk pigment powders, aerosol lacquers, paints and stains at the
Distribution Center.
November 1998 to August 2002-Color Specialist, Illusion Unlimited,
Thomasville, North Carolina. Mix stains, lacquer and match finishes. Finish
and repair furniture for Baker, O'Henry House, Carter of Salisbury and
Lewis-Mittman. Assist in faux finishing for area showrooms as well as
private residences. Maintain inventory and ordering of finishing material.
June 1991 to November 1998-Color Specialist, Brayton International
Collection, High Point, North Carolina. Match custom wood finishes for
office furniture manufacturer. Maintained inventory of finishing material.
Handled documentation and disposal of hazardous waste. Responsible for work
flow in finishing room. Entered the amount of product completed each day in
computer. Repaired all defects in finished product. Entered all custom
finish formulas in computer and mixed all custom stains for stain sprayer.
Filled in for all positions when someone was absent.
June 1990 to January 1991- Customer Service Technician-Guardsman Products,
High Point, North Carolina. Worked full-time in Lexington Furniture Plant's
2 and 5.Mantainded consignment program, ordering material and keeping track
of usage.
August 1983 to June 1990-Color Stylist-Valspar Corporation, High Point,
North Carolina. Created new finishes or matched existing ones for customers
in home furnishings market. Worked in an advisory capacity in finishing
rooms located in Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and
Georgia for such companies as Sumter, Bassett, Broyhill, Lane, Lea and Casa
Bique to name a few. Had to work closely with management and designers of
all these companies. Had to travel with little or no notice.
April 1976 to August 1983-Electronic Assembler-Gulton-Femco, High Point,
North Carolina. Assembled and wired communications equipment for the coal
and steel industry using schematic and wiring diagrams.
September 1975 to April 1976-Intallation Technician-Thomas Built Buses,
High Point, North Carolina. Installed non-production options such as sound
systems, installed weather stripping on jackknife doors and bolted down
seats at the Fairfield Plant.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Can type and use Windows software such as Word and Excel. Atended Apics
seminars. Excellent mechanical and problem solving skills. Excellent math
skills. Good organizational skills. Good eye for color and finish matching.
