Intrapartum, Postpartum and Breastfeeding Care: Provide nurse-midwifery care
during intrapartum, postpartum and breastfeeding rotations for Medicaid patients in a large, high-
volume city hospital. Responsibilities included triaging patients, conducting history and physical,
providing labor support, delivery babies, 1st and 2nd degree laceration repairs, assisting the MD
and CNM in cesarean sections, immediate newborn assessment and care, as well as conducting
postpartum rounds and attending to the medical and social needs of patients and their families.
Gouverneur Clinic, New York, NY, September-December 2009
Antepartum, Out-Patient Postpartum, and Well Woman Gynecology Care:
Responsible for 8-10 patients daily under the guidance of a midwifery preceptor. Provide routine
prenatal, 2- and 6-week postpartum care and woman gynecology care for a predominantly
Spanish Medicaid population in a high volume clinical practice. Perform complete histories and
well-woman physical exams, health screenings, order and evaluate diagnostic tests, IUD
insertions, counsel on family planning and menopausal care.

Nursing Integration in Labor and Delivery: Acted as a student staff-nurse and
provided direct patient care on a labor and delivery floor for 9 weeks, 36 hour per week under
the guidance of a nurse preceptor.
