Junior/Senior Project:
Completed a two semester research project with a small group of peers
(Spring 2008 - Fall 2009). Topic of research was invasive plant species in
Pisgah State Park, New Hampshire. Accomplished goals of this project were
the development of an invasive species protocol for the park and the
incorporation of a Citizen Scientist Program to provide long term
observation and data. Skills that were utilized and strengthened included
working individually and as a team, mapping and GIS, oral and written
communication, working with the public, conducting research, preparing
reports and presentations, information gathering and organization, judgment
and decision making, problem identification and solving, and working within
time restraints.
Work Experience:
Volatiles Analyst, American Analytical Laboratories, Farmingdale, NY (June
2009 - Nov 2009)
- Tested water, soil, and air samples for volatile contaminants.
Responsibilities included sample preparation, data entry and analysis,
instrument maintenance, and keeping the lab organized and clean.
Gained experience with organic lab procedures and EPA methods, gas
chromatography and mass spectrometry. Followed specific instructions
with strict intention to detail, organization, precision, and
accuracy.
Seasonal Parks Maintainer, Department of Environmental Protection,

- Responsibilities included performing routine seasonal maintenance at
multiple state parks and working with the public. Utilized and
