TJX Companies, Framingham, MA September 1986 to February 2002
Senior Technical Specialist/Project Manager
• Due to growth, TJX needed to expand its distribution network in a short amount of time. TJX built three new distribution
centers, comprising three million sq. ft, around the US. Selected by senior management to manage the communication needs
from ground breaking through to completion. Saved $150,000 in direct labor costs by coordinating timely installations with
telecommunication vendors. The communications portion of project was completed ahead of time and under budget.
• Monitored and analyzed all aspects of TJX's 22 call centers. Recommended function improvements and CTI solutions to call
center management and performed system administration to implement recommended improvements. Also maintained
Interactive Voice Response system to support call centers.
• Selected by senior management to evaluate all major players in Call Center / Call Distributions space. Project lasted three
months and resulted in a comprehensive white paper that was presented to senior management. Management reviewed white
paper and selected recommended vendor.
• Was asked by MIS Director to design and implement cost-effective plan to expand existing telecommunication system
capacity in Framingham to accommodate 1200 users that were being consolidated from other locations into new 325,000 sq ft
building. Helped to design wiring scheme that simplified network administration and allowed increased disaster recovery.
Oversaw installation of diverse network feed for disaster recovery and saved in excess of $80,000 by creatively negotiating
and sourcing refurbished equipment with extensive warranty. Saved additional thousands by accomplishing most of
installation with existing TJX resources.
• Two buying offices in separate locations in Manhattan needed to be consolidated to a third location. This needed to be
accomplished with zero down time or else would result in millions of lost revenue per day. Over 3 month period evaluated,
recommended, negotiated purchase, and oversaw installation of Nortel system, both data and voice, for office. Was able to
completely move both offices over a two day weekend period with no downtime.
