My duties and responsibilities as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)

included although were not limited to: initializing and monitoring of

invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, administering oxygen,

administer aerosolized medication via Intermittent Positive Pressure

Breathing (IPPB), Intermittent Aerosol Therapy (IAT), Dry Powder Inhaler

(DPI), and Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI), administer incentive breathing

devices (IS), performing nasotracheal and artificial airway suctioning,

performing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), bag - mask ventilation,

perform pulse oximetry monitoring, perform arterial blood gas punctures

(ABG), performing bedside pulmonary mechanics, transporting of patients

within the hospital, verifying physicians orders, diagnostic

cardiopulmonary procedures, pulmonary function studies (PFT), EKGs and

cardiac monitoring, assure correct set-up, safety and function of all

equipment and supplies necessary in the provision of patient care, assure

adherence to all infectious disease standards in the delivery of all

patient care procedures, recognizing life threatening situations and

initiating appropriate response, understands pharmacological indications,

dosages and responding to adverse drug reactions, make patient care

assessments according to accepted protocols, provides education to

patients, families, physicians, nursing and other members of the health

care team, monitors response to all therapy, documents in the patient

medical record, communicates all pertinent clinical information,

participates in quality improvement activities, perform routine cleaning

and maintenance of all respiratory equipment and works as a patient

advocate.
