Analytical Scientist
Currently working as an analytical chemist, I have experience as a
scientist in the analytical and quality sciences in both the cosmetic and
pharmaceutical industry. As an organized and effective team member, I have
been involved with the development, validation and analytical analysis of
API and a variety of drug products in development track and late stage in a
GMP-compliant manner and I have also applied this knowledge to the analysis
of bulk and finished cosmetic products. I am recognized for excellent
leadership and communication skills, both oral and written and assisting in
collaborative projects outside my area. My interest is in developing a
career in a challenging field that affords problem solving opportunities
and encourages creativity and critical thinking.
PROFESSIONAL STRENGTHS
. More than 3 years of experience in analytical sciences and method
development
. Analytical Proficiency: HPLC (TotalChrom/Empower2/ChemStation
Acquisition), GC, UV, Dissolution, purity, strength, content
uniformity, various wet chemistry techniques
. Excellent teamwork and communication skills - oral and written
. Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic development project support
EXPERIENCE
KOLMAR LABORATORIES - Port Jervis, NY 2010-Present
Analytical Chemist
. Analytical Analysis for Raw Material and Finished Product - Perform
daily in- process bulk and finished product testing to support
production
. Method Transfer - Qualify customer methods needed to test products
. Method Development and Validation Studies- Assist with development
of in-house methods for new products using appropriate method
development tools.
. Compliance - Ensure all compound testing and investigation and
related metrics are met while ensuring high quality
results/investigations. Maintain and calibrate equipment properly
and in accordance with department SOP's.
PFIZER - Pearl River, NY (Formerly Wyeth Pharmaceuticals)
2007-2010
Associate Scientist
. Analytical Analysis for API/Drug Products - Provide support as
needed on a variety of drug substances and drug products to ensure
that all IND target dates are met and that there is no delay
related to analytical support.
. Support to Projects in Other Teams - Ability to assist in research
and challenges outside my area of expertise. For example, I
facilitated the effort to implement Empower2 in my department,
received administrator training and in turn trained colleagues to
use the software.
. Testing and Release of Clinical Supplies
. Writing and Validation of Analytical Procedures - Complete in
accordance with SOP's and meet assigned due dates.
. Method Development and Validation Studies- Assist with development
of stability indicating methods using appropriate method
development tools to ensure method parameters are justified,
appropriate and adequately controlled.
. Compliance - Ensure all compound testing and investigation and
related metrics are met while ensuring high quality
results/investigations. Maintain and calibrate equipment properly
and in accordance with department SOP's. Assisted in audit
preparation and remediation.
ADDITIONAL RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
EMORY UNIVERSITY - Atlanta, GA
2003-2005
Graduate Student Researcher - Participated in molecular dynamics studies of
protein structure using computer simulation to identify successful
inhibitors of viruses and bacteria, especially Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.
Studied conformations and populations of potential drug-like small
molecules in application to drug design.
Skills:
. Silicon Graphics/Linux systems to run application software including
Macromodel and Sybyl. Also PC/Mac user.
. Studied IR, NMR (1H/13C), MS
Graduate Student Instructor - As an organic chemistry laboratory teaching
assistant, I supervised several classes of undergraduate students during
laboratory experiments. I was responsible for the presentation of
laboratory experiment procedures and grading of quizzes and written reports
for each experiment. I was also responsible for lab clean-up and safety.
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY - Syracuse, NY
2002-2003
Undergraduate Research Assistant - Studied methods to synthesize and
characterize organic/inorganic hybrid mixed metal oxides via hydrothermal
synthesis, prepared and characterized via single crystal x-ray diffraction
several novel organic/inorganic mixed metal oxides.
Skills:
. Studied NMR and single crystal x-ray diffraction
UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT - Storrs, CT
2001
Undergraduate Research Summer Intern - Gained experience in organic
synthesis involving bromination of aromatic amines as a comparison to
silanes, a common protecting group.
SUNY COLLEGE AT POTSDAM - Potsdam, NY
2001
Undergraduate Research Assistant - Gained valuable first experience by
researching the synthesis of possible nitric oxide synthesis inhibitors.
This experience taught me basic laboratory techniques including TLC, IR,
GC, and NMR techniques and characterization.
