Experience
1984-2009: Electrical maintenance technician at the Philip Morris Cabarrus
factory in Concord, N.C. My primary job was to maintain, troubleshoot and
repair the electrical and electronic controls for equipment that was used
to manufacture and package cigarettes. This included making wiring changes
to the equipment as needed, using a plc programmer for troubleshooting and
reloading programs, troubleshooting at component level to trace problems,
working with machine specialists to correct problems, taking infrared
surveys of electrical panels as a means to identify potential problems, the
use of a volt-ohm meter, the occasional use of an oscilloscope and
frequency counter, and the use of various hand tools, a power drill,
propane torch and a band saw. At various times I had to operate a forklift,
a boom lift and a 2 man Hyster lift. At this job I also gained some
mechanical maintenance knowledge. I could remove and replace gears,
sprockets, and pulleys, tension and replace drive chain and chain links and
drill and tap holes for screws.
1984: Electronics technician for American Barmag Corporation in Charlotte,
N.C. My primary job was to repair circuit boards.
1983-1984: Electronics technician for Southern Industrial Controls
(Southcon) in Charlotte, N.C. My primary job was to test and repair ac and
dc motor drives.
1979-1983: Electronics technician for Seco in Lancaster, S.C. My primary
job was to test and repair ac and dc motor drives.
