Professional Experience
*/**** ** */**** Senior E&I Engineering Designer; On-Board Engineering,
Inc.
DuPont Project Engineering Center, 1007 Market Street,
Wilmington, DE
Engineering & design of electrical and instrumentation plant
projects at DuPont's Edge Moor plant. Projects included:
implementing a sequential cooling strategy that increased
capacity of the main substation; design & installation of
redundant UPS power distribution systems with re-balancing of
critical loads; retrofit the demand/supply controls design for
the plant-wide air compressor system. I was later relocated to
DuPont Project Engineering Center to help with instrumentation
design for DuPont's new Cooper River Kevlar plant where I
focused on DCS I/O schematic diagrams, cable routing and cable
tray loading, and using vendor diagrams to produce instrument
installation details for the site E&I contractor. I am also
involved in developing discrete relay logic interconnection
schematics to accomplish safe & efficient plant operation.
9/2006 to 2/2007 Senior E&I Design Engineer; Western Refining, Inc.
6500 Trowbridge Drive, El Paso, TX
Evaluated and coordinated E&I project designs from several
contracted engineering firms to expedite the installation of on-
site refinery projects. The projects were designed to increase
production to expand Western's market and also to maintain
compliance with EPA regulations.
7/2005 to 8/2006 Principle Controls Design Engineer; Metso Automation, Inc.
1180 Church Road, Lansdale, PA
Designed & documented the electrical and instrumentation
installations of our Distributed Control Systems for global
clients' manufacturing sites and power generation facilities
using AutoCAD design software. Developed departmental CADD
standards and procedures to help automate and expedite our
project design effort.
4/2004 to 3/2005 Project Design Engineer; Pinnacle Electronic Systems, Inc.
1157 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA
Engineer & design integrated security systems using AutoCAD
software for detention facilities, courthouses, police stations,
etc. Systems typically consist of closed-circuit television
controls, intercom and paging equipment, and door controls using
secured access methods. Programmable Logic Controllers and a
Human/Machine Interface were used to integrate the control and
monitoring systems.
2/1991 to 3/2003 Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Designer; Day &
Zimmerman International, Inc.
240 Continental Drive, Newark, Delaware
I spent a year on field assignment at the Sun Oil refinery in
Marcus Hook, PA, designing various small upgrade and maintenance
projects. I then served as principal automation designer with
D&Z's Life Sciences Division on several pharmaceutical projects
in the Philadelphia office. In August of 1994 I transferred to
D & Z's Mid-Atlantic Office, in Newark, DE, serving E.I.
DuPont's Textile Fibers Department designing instrument control
systems upgrade projects for textile fibers & engineering
polymers facilities including P & I diagrams, loop sheets, TDC-
3000 I/O schematics, motor schematics, single line diagrams, and
electrical & instrument location drawings utilizing
MicroStation CAD software. I also developed instrument
specifications as required. I received CadCentre training on the
PDMS 3-D modeling software system and served as Lead PDMS
Instrument Designer for two Lycra expansion projects.
5/1989 to 2/1991 Senior Electrical & Control Systems Designer; Fluor
Daniel, Inc.
Philadelphia Operations Center, Marlton, NJ
Designed electrical & control systems projects for a petroleum
refining operation and a fossil-fuel power co-generation plant.
Developed and implemented a Fluor Daniel software package that
provides an efficient, error-free method for generating P&I
diagrams, loop sheets, and wiring diagrams that reduced project
costs by $15,000 per P&I Diagram.
2/1982 to 4/1989 Project Lead Designer; Electrical & Instrument Group
Allstates Engineering Company, REO-Wilmington, Linwood, PA
Project engineering design for E.I. DuPont & Company facilities
using MicroStation CAD software primarily consisted of
modernizing existing process controls utilizing PLC and DCS
control systems. Duties included; supervising the development of
the electrical and instrumentation systems design for projects
to improve production, and developing detailed installation
designs. Designed several TiO2 Production Expansion projects at
the Johnsonville, TN plant and the Edgemoor, DE plant.
1/1981 to 2/1982 Field Instrumentation Designer; Bechtel Power Corporation,
Inc.
Hope Creek Generating Station, Artificial Island, Hancocks
Bridge, NJ
Served as instrumentation field designer. Assisted with the
implementation of the Composite Overlay System, a design drawing
system to coordinate between the instrumentation, electrical, &
small pipe disciplines to eliminate routing interferences in the
field.
Education
Presently Working toward a BS in Electrical Engineering at Drexel
University (70% complete)
1978 to 1981 Delaware Technical & Community College, Stanton
Campus, Delaware
Graduated with honors, earning an A.A.S. degree in Process
Instrumentation.
October, 1998 FAA Certificated Private Pilot
