Computer Technician
EDUCATION
Western Dakota Technical Institute
Networking Technician, Diploma
8/2009 – 5/2010
COURSEWORK
• Approximately 25% of time spent in lecture and 75% of time spent in lab configuring, and analyzing operation of peer to peer, local
area and wide area networks.
• Software Installation and Troubleshooting- Configured dual boot operating system between Windows 98/2000/XP/Linux and addressed
any conflicts that may have aroused.
• Hardware Installation and troubleshooting- Assembled and disassembled computer down to component level while addressing any
conflicts that may have aroused.
• Networking Essentials- Used Windows and Linux to add user accounts assign resources and run start-up scripts in a workgroup
environment. Cabled classroom and ran cat 5 cable from switch to patch panel to wall outlets and tested connectivity throughout the
network. Covered and implemented networking and sub-networking based on received network and host requirements.
• Windows Vista- Covered installation, configuration, administration and network setup.
• Cisco Academy/Networking- Studied and OSI and TCP/IP layers and used specific hardware and software to analyze network
communication between Physical through Application layer. Performed initial configuration, IOS management, disaster recovery and
security of Cisco routers, and implemented routing protocols such as Rip, Ripv2, EIGRP and OSPF to configure various wired and
wireless networks, test and troubleshoot connectivity between routers, switches and hosts.
Windows Server 2008- Installed and configured DNS, WINS, DHCP, IP SEC and Active Directory. Configured group accounts, user
accounts and computer accounts in Active Directory and applied various forms of account policies in a domain environment.
• Collaborative Technology- Installed and configured Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 to exchange e-mails between users of different
domains in an Active Directory environment.
EDUCATION
Western Dakota Technical Institute
Electronics Technician, Associates
8/2006 – 5/2008
COURSEWORK
•Two years formal training where approximately 25% of time spent in lecture and 75% of time spent in lab building circuits using
discrete components as well as integrated circuits, analyzing, and troubleshooting their operation using breadboards, schematics and
wiring diagrams.
• AC Circuits- Used Oscilloscope and Multi-meter to measure AC voltages, RMS, Peak, Peak-Peak, phase angles and impedance.
• DC Circuits- Used Oscilloscope and Multi-meter to measure DC voltage, resistance and current.
• Digital Technology- Used Oscilloscope and Multi-meter and Logic probe to measure ground and logic levels. Used function generator
to inject clock signals and trace input and output signals in analysis of adders, flip flops, shift registers, converters and various digital
circuits.
• Solid State Devices and Amplifiers- Used Oscilloscope and Multi-meter to measure and analyze power supplies, filters, regulators,
small signal and power amplifiers.
• Linear and Non-linear Integrated Circuits- Used Oscilloscope and Multi-meter to measure and analyze op-amps, oscillators, and timing
circuits.
• Communications Technology- Used Oscilloscope, Multi-meter, and Function generator to measure and analyze circuits with focus on
coupling, bias, modulation, demodulation, detection and mixing, and encoding and decoding of various signals in FM, AM and Digital
transmitter and receiver circuits.
• Projects- Built Am/Fm super-heterodyne receiver, 0-20V adjustable power supply, hand held digital oscilloscope (all in kit form).
EXPERIENCE
Peak Systems Temporary Contract
5/11/2010 – 5/13/2010
• Worked for Dell as part of a migration process using software to image a new hard drive from an existing hard drive during PC
upgrades. Also used data wipe software to delete existing information from the system being replaced.
Menard's Receiving Clerk
5/2006 – 1/2008
• Assisted in loading and unloading trucks, maintained inventory of merchandise being received into the store and palatalized
merchandise to be received by specific departments.
United States Air Force Supply System Analyst
1/2002 – 1/2006
• Worked as a network technician responsible for maintaining network connectivity. Addressed any connectivity issues on the Local
Area Network and replaced or re-terminated cabling as required. Replaced PC’s and printers as needed in a field environment and
addressed any software related issues such as system crashes and application errors.
