IT Consultant

09/2008 - Present KEIT Consulting

IT consultant assisting both private companies and

individuals in the development of disaster recovery plans,

system administration, network engineering, and desktop

support. Duties consist of supporting most operating

systems including Linux, UNIX (Solaris), Windows Server

2003, Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7; as well as networks

running Cisco and HP switches, Cisco and Juniper routers,

Netscreen, Cisco, and Tipping Point security devices.

General Manager

General Manager assigned to oversee full management

responsibilities of a quick service restaurant. Duties

included the overseeing of day to day operations, personnel

scheduling, personnel hiring and terminations, ordering

supplies and food product, effectively managing inventory

and labor costs, maintaining health and quality standards

and pursuing higher sales and a more profitable bottom

line. During my tenure with Boddie-Noell, there was a

support 300+ UNIX servers. Responsibilities include

building and deploying new servers, Intel and Sparc based

Sun hardware, running a mix of Solaris 8, 9, 10.

Maintenance and troubleshooting of all of the existing

machines in the infrastructure. Other responsibilities

included the management of all backups and tapes for our

central backup solution.

E.W. Scripps is one of the largest media companies in the

world owning many well known networks such as HGTV, DIY,

Fine Living, Food Network and GAC. Their company began in

newspapers and gradually moved to broadcast television and

is now primarily network based programming.

UNIX Systems Administrator

11/2005 - 10/2006 Fieldstone Mortgage Company, Columbia,

MD

Sole UNIX administrator in charge of 40+ UNIX & Linux

servers. Duties included installing, patching,

maintaining, and upgrading Solaris 8, 9 and 10 and Debian

and Red Hat Linux servers that support real time mission

critical company wide applications. Fieldstone is a large

mortgage company that offers non-conforming mortgages in 42

states with offices in 27.

Network Administrator

2/2005 - 11/2005 Sword & Shield Enterprise Security,

Knoxville, TN

Network Administrator in support of 25+ end users and 15+

servers. Duties consisted of maintaining our IT

infrastructure including our Cisco routers and switches,

Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, and Red Hat) and Windows (2000 and

2003) servers, and maintaining backups. Network

applications supported include Goldmine Sales and

Marketing, Quickbooks, and Microsoft Exchange. Platforms

supported are Dell and IBM.

Network Engineer

1/2001 - 1/2005 University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN

Network Engineer in a team of approximately 15 people

providing network connectivity to the University of

Tennessee, Knoxville. During this period, our main task

was a project by the name of Volnet. The goal of this

project was to upgrade the entire UTK network from a

FDDI/Fast Ethernet backbone to a Cisco switched and routed

gigabit network. This included design, implementation, and

replacement of all legacy hardware. Secondary duties

consist of managing an HP Openview Network Node Manager

Server and being the resident Windows/Solaris/Linux Systems

Administrator, maintaining group owned machines.

The System Administrator solely responsible for the

administration for an Apache web and Q-Mail email servers

running on Debian Linux. My responsibilities include

installing, configuring and maintaining both the Linux

running Q-Mail as the MTA and Squirrelmail utilizing
