Directly responsible for the fleet division's daily operations to
include an equipment inventory of $15m,
division P&L responsibility, monthly budget, 8-person repair
facility, parts acquisition, equipment/vehicle purchases,
equipment rental, and preventative maintenance program. Created
and directly involved in analyzing monthly vehicle cost per mile
and equipment cost per hour. Set up a tracking system for
assigned fleet usage accountability by employee. Personally
managed all equipment sales for greater ROI. Worked closely with
owners on special projects concerning business direction,
salaried and hourly work force, safety programs, growth, and
company policies and procedures. After months of layoffs due to
the lack of new home growth and downturn in the economy, my
position was eliminated.
2001 to B & B Automotive, Charlotte, NC
2003 General Manager
Contracted to lead the daily operations of the 9,000 square foot
turn-around fleet maintenance facility along with total P&L
responsibility. Directly involved in sales, customer service,
order entry, purchasing, inventory control and employee
training. Evaluated and redirected business focus and direction.
Directed the business infrastructure to be reorganized which
produced a 38.6% sales increase, a 28.3% gross profit increase,
and a net profit increase of 18.7%. Worked closely with the
President and Owner of the parent corporation researching
special projects, acquiring knowledge, advising current and
future business focus and direction for the dry wall and supply
business.
1998 to BeKen Corporation, Charlotte, NC
2001 President and Owner
Led the overall operations of a family owned franchise business
providing product and service to wholesale and retail customers
six days per week. Managed sales, productivity, inventory
control, purchasing, order entry, customer service, and human
resources along with total P& L responsibility.
1997 to Carolina Tractor, Charlotte, NC
1998 General Manager Parts Division
Division P&L responsibility for the daily operations of a $50m
multi-unit Caterpillar Dealer parts warehouse and distribution
operation. Parts and value-added services were provided to 3
corporate divisions and to outside customers from 5 branch
locations. Led 10 direct reports and 98 hourly employees.
Enhanced customer service by establishing a delivery service for
internal and external customers along with extended hours and
weekends. Revised the inter-company shuttle program to lower
cost and provide premium service. A training and cross-training
program was implemented for all employees along with a
management trainee program. The Parts Division was reorganized
for more applicable management empowerment. Order fill was
increased from 94.4% to 97.3% while maintaining inventory turns.
Customer wait-time was reduced from 45 to 15 minutes.
1989 to SOUTHLAND REBUILDERS, Charlotte, NC
1997 Vice President of Operations
Responsible for the daily P&L operations of this $20m automotive
parts remanufacturing and warehouse/distribution business. Led
a direct report management staff of 8 and instituted many
procedural changes for increased inventory turns and order fill;
was also directly responsible for the relocation, design and set-
up of a subsidiary manufacturing plant that resulted in an
increase in productivity of 300%. Was directly responsible for
implementing the coveted quality systems, Q1, ISO-9002, and QS-
9000. Received ISO-9002 registration in 9 months and QS-9000 in
13 months. Created customer core bank and tracking system. Also
Served on the Ford F.A.R. National Advertising Committee for 2
years and chaired it for one year with a $1.5m budget. We
increased sales from $6m to $20m and led a team to research,
purchase and implement new Risk 9000 Computer System, plus
customize FACTS software.
