IT Experience

Encore Capital Manager, IT and Security, 1999-2010

Group, Inc., 5 years as Network Manager for Encore

Phoenix, AZ Capital Group, Inc. This consisted of

managing the Server and Network

implementation teams that were

responsible for the installation of our

servers and networking (Cisco switches,

Routers and firewalls) equipment. I had

7 direct employees reporting to me on

this team

6+ years as the Manger of IT and

Security for Encore Capital Group, Inc.

This consisted of managing the Help

Desk, Security, LAN Administration and

NOC teams. The Help Desk team were

responsible for support of the tier 1

and 2 desktop and applications, cell

phone and remote support. The LAN

administration team was responsible for

the support and monitoring of the

companies servers, server applications

and tier 3 desktop support. The

Security team was responsible for the

data and physical security for the

company. They performed risk and

vulnerability analysis hardware

hardening, monitoring of IDP and IDS for

breach prevention and physical security

to all data. The NOC team was

responsible for the 24/7 monitoring of

all server logs, backups, and network

activity. The teams consisted of 16

direct reports and 35 indirect

international reports. I was

responsible for the overall activity of

the international team but the day to

day for the Gurgon India team fell under

a direct supervisor who reported to me

daily.

Data Management/Warehouse

At encore my teams were responsible for

the housing of all data. The data was

originally stored on a 500 Gigabyte NAS

consisting of SQL data. Over the last

11 years my teams have implemented 128

terabytes of Data Warehouse installing

and migrating the old NAS to a NETAPP

SAN with Phoenix housing the primary

NETAPP with 64 terabytes of storage, and

Arlington and San Diego both having a

NETAPP containing 32 terabytes of

storage each.

The data warehouse consisted of

department and individual files, SQL,

DB2, Oracle, and Sybase databases.

CSK Automotive LAN Technician, 1995-1999

servers and Tier 3 desktop support.

Recent Project Highlights:

Technology Integration: Managed a merger of server, network

and storage technologies with an acquired office.

New Operations Site Setup: Managed a new offshore site

setup and moves multiple times. Assessed and set up data

center and all server, network, storage and workstation

needs. Setup global help desk to ensure 24/7 coverage of

all customer support reducing cost in billable hours.

Operational Availability: Started a tiered criticality of

all applications and servers to help with our business

continuity, backups, change control, high availability and

cost of hardware.

Lower Administration: Currently consolidating all five

locations to one data center with critical applications,

servers and data to be replicated to a secondary data

center.

Data Center: Continually lead comprehensive security,

server, storage, application and network infrastructure

upgrades (e.g., firewall/VPN upgrades, intrusion detection,

token-based authentication, core switches, i-Series i/OS

and hardware, NetAPP, Websphere and remote management).

Currently doing a refresh in our Datacenter of cooling,

cabling and racks.

Process: Set up policies for change control and overall IT

service workflow, assisted in SLA assignments and backup

polices, and am working on creating all NOC policies and

procedures.
