2005 database servers on standalone physical and virtual machines as well
as two-node clusters. Set up db backups and maintenance plans as well as
mirroring to satisfy disaster recovery requirements. Worked with two
applications teams to get vendor databases installed and secured. Designed
and modeled a custom database to accommodate payment tracking data.
Documented all steps of builds with an Excel inventory of databases and
features as well as an MS Project plan of install and configuration steps.

business requirements. Proposed plans for upgrading Sql Server 7 and 2000
to 2005. Monitored growth and performance of test and production data base
servers. Estimated future storage growth and made recommendations for
expansion. Modeled proposed data base changes, designed data modeling
standards, reviewed developer's tested objects for performance, added
indexes where necessary, and installed to production. Made recommendations
for disaster recovery methods. Reviewed security, detected weaknesses, and
made recommendations for improvements.
1/99 - 4/06 DBA with Bank of America Technology Center, Concord
Built and monitored Sybase Adaptive Server 11 and 11.5 corporate commercial
portfolio credit and risk database servers. Performed upgrades and hot
fixes according to Six Sigma standard, debugged problems with Sybase
technical support. Implemented and maintained Sybase Replication services.
Assisted programmers with code tuning for improved performance. Designed
and implemented security standards. All work was performed on Sun Sparc and
Ultra Sparc machines running Solaris operating system vs. 8.
Used database tools including SQL, Embarcadero Technologies' DbArtisan and
Change Manager tools, and Sybase Central, bcp and BMC's SQL-Backtrack to
migrate database objects between servers and databases as well as perform
regular backups. Mapped elements from other bank financial systems to
portfolio information management databases. Performed impact analyses of
interfaces to existing databases. Designed, implemented, and documented a
disaster recovery process. Managed infrastructure that supported database
maintenance tasks using Solaris Korn shell and Bourne shell.
Participated in production oncall rotation.

Associate Database Administrator - Built and monitored Sybase servers and
databases using Sybase tools and DbArtisan. Used database tools, bcp, et
al. to migrate objects of environments corresponding to application
development cycles (development, test, and production) between servers on
different Sun machines. Created login accounts and user designations,
granted object permissions, monitored database object locks and advised
developers concerning inefficient processing due to inefficient embedded
sql. Tested alternative sql and made recommendations to developers.
Increased log space, number of user connections, and other parameters when
needed. Reverse engineered within CAST and Powerdesigner in order to
analyse and diagram database objects and their links. Performed database
backups and loads involving disk and tape as well as creating and
maintaining batch backups via cron. All work was performed on Sun and
Compaq computers.
1/96 - 11/97 DBA/Project Manager with PSP Information Group, Oakland

tables, indexes, triggers, and constraints to best support those uses.
Researched and tuned VAX Sql Services to minimize record locks and maximize
throughput. Conducted analyses and mapping tasks to integrate 3rd party
applications with a legacy database. Managed application development of
interfaces using Visual Basic on Windows platforms which ran in Rdb on a
DEC VAX back-end. Managed full-cycle delivery of products: requirements
analysis, resource procurement, writing project plans, signoff on business

MacIntosh computers networked with Sybase databases on VAX Alphas. Sybase
SQL, stored procedures, and SQR used for metadata management, client server
application development, and report writing. Software originally consisted
of COBOL programs and Datatrieve query language using RMS file formats.
Responsibilities included interviewing accountants for information
regarding enhancements needed, especially with regard to report and check
generation functions. Work on flat file applications was performed on a
