Work Experience
Oregon Army National Guard-December 2001-present
Duties: Enlisted member of the Oregon Army National Guard from December
2001-December 2006. Received commission as a 2LT March 2007, then assigned
as a detachment commander in Coos Bay. Responsible for the health, welfare
and discipline of 40 soldiers. Deployed as an Executive Officer from April
2009-April 2010 in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom 09-10. Responsible
for maintaining unit combat readiness of Soldiers and equipment by
supervising maintenance and supply operations, coordinating with adjacent
units and battalions, as well as civilian contractors to support the
requirements of the mission. Kept the Commander informed of combat
operations through the Company Tactical Operations Center, and acted as the
Commander in the absence of the Company Commander. Currently assigned as
Commander of a 125 soldier Forward Support Company in Medford, OR.
State Operated Community Program (SOCP)-DHS January 2008-
September 2008
Duties: Working with DD population in a residential setting, assisting with
daily living skills to include: bathing, hygiene, meal preparation,
community outtings and household duties. Conflict resolution between
clients exhibiting high behaviors ( hitting, slapping, AWOL, PICA,
aggression, property destruction, etc). CPR and first aid certified.
Completed Oregon Intervention Systems (O.I.S.) to deflect and evade clients
physical attacks. Client diagnosis include: schizophrenia, autism,
borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and impulse
control disorder.
Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries. July 2005-April 2007
Duties: Working with adults with developmental/physical disabilities to
develop job skills for community employment. Instructed resume building,
job search, and self development courses for families struggling
financially. Worked with all families to achieve social and financial
stability. Provided case management, vocational training, needs
assessments, community referrals. Partnered with DHS, DHS-CW, VRD, DD
services, local staffing agencies, churches, homeless shelters and other
organizations. Population included DD parents, low income families, welfare
(TANF) clients, abused adults/children, families recovering from
substance/alcohol abuse.
Alternative Services Inc. January 2005-July 2005
Duties: Provided companionship and basic care to adults with severe
disabilities. Bathed clients, prepared meals, administered medication/ g-
tube feedings, performed household duties, community outings, conflict
resolution, participated in development of clients individual support
plans.
