Leading $650M direct market travel company offering extended tours around
the globe
Provided strong and steady leadership to the Systems, Telecom, Production
Support and Help Desk teams and shaped overall IT direction reporting into
the SVP of Information Services. Over the past 13 years, grew the
department from 5 associates supporting 500+ employees located in 2 offices
to 15 associates supporting 1,500+ employees spread across 45 international
offices and 20 company owned river ships. The Data Center was expanded from
10 servers in one location to over 200 servers in three locations.
Platforms managed include IBM i & pSeries partitioned to support Data
Warehouse, ERP and Financial application systems, Windows & Linux servers.
Designed and led the implementation of virtualization, both on the midrange
and server hardware and the consolidation of data storage via SAN.
Responsibilities include:
. Lead a team of 15 located in N. America, Europe and Asia to support
enterprise infrastructure
. Creating and presenting annual $5M Capital Budget
. Establish and communicate strategic vision for IT Infrastructure

coordinate their implementation
Selected projects involving multiple systems and business units:
. Implementing a new workflow model for the Contact Center utilizing
software from Aspect, Onyx CRM and internally developed applications
to deliver inbound/outbound calls, emails and quality letter tasks to
associates based on volume and priorities
. Web hosting - $220K project to leverage existing infrastructure and
host company web site in house, resulting in $550K savings over three
years
. Front office management system on 15 ships - $500K project leading to
$1M savings in ship operations
. Midrange system implementation - $400K project to deploy Oracle onto a
multi-partitioned IBM pSeries running AIX in order to support three
simultaneous business initiatives
Additional highlights:
. Lead the adoption of Agile development methodology for Production
Support and Infrastructure teams
. Negotiated local/national/international voice and data contracts to
support 44 offices
. Implemented and provided ongoing governance for SOA architecture based
on IBM Websphere and Microsoft .net framework
. Conversion of standalone Windows servers to blade environment running
under VMWare connected to a centrally managed Storage Area Network
(SAN).
. Improved department support quality from 73% to 95% as measured by our
customers while tracking and resolving 13,000 issues/year
. Hired international staff in Europe and Asia to provide 24 hour
support coverage and handle increased workload
. Established ongoing metrics to drive and measure team performance

National Leisure Group - Woburn, MA June 1996 - June 1997
Managed staff of five with responsibility for Help Desk, LAN/WAN and
desktop support. Designed and implemented WAN for twenty sites in New
England supporting 400+ users utilizing Citrix. Organized and managed move
of technical infrastructure to new location within New England. Data Center
included two HP 9000 series systems running HPUX and a custom developed ERP
system.
