Health:
. Developed units and lessons that follow and reinforce the National
Health Education Standards and the curriculum standards for the Hudson
City School District.
. Promoted the understanding of health concepts using manipulatives and
creative "hands on" activities. Units were built from prior knowledge,
including up to date information and resources from the Center for
Disease Control, National Institute of Health, Healthy People 2010 and
in accordance with the Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool.
. Developed and implemented own health education syllabus. Included in
the syllabus were rules and regulations, procedures for grading,
quizzes, make-ups, extra credit and all health topics to be covered.
. Provided supervision for team support and lunch detentions. Attended
school sponsored athletic events, academic challenge and choir and
band concerts on a regular basis to show support and to build rapport
with students.
. Assisted in the planning and implementation of a week long outdoor
education field trip to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

. Assisted in the development and analysis of the schools CSHP.
Researched the makeup of the student and adult population of the
target area to determine any potentially harmful health and lifestyle
tendencies or present problem areas.
. Analyzed the data of the CSHP to develop effective strategies to
improve certain areas of the program that were in default and ways to
excel in the areas that were in positive standing.
. In 2009, Crestwood Elementary was recognized as an honorable mention
for the Stellar Award by the Ohio Department of Education for
consistently providing meals that follow the National Dietary
Guidelines.

Comprehensive Sexually Education:
. Assisted in the development of the districts' comprehensive sexually
education curriculum as an outside consultant.
. Researched the makeup of the student and adult population of the area
to determine any potentially harmful health and lifestyle tendencies

. Analyzed the collected data to assist in the development of the

Nordonia Hills City Fitness Festival, Macedonia, Ohio
Community Health/Physical Education:
. Assisted in the development of a non-competitive health and wellness
fitness festival that focused on the different elements of physical
fitness for people of all ages and abilities.
. Promoted the festival through morning announcements at Nordonia High
School, fliers and lunchtime raffles for local restaurant gift cards
to gain student involvement.
. Stations were created with household items to minimize costs and to
encourage family participation in physical fitness.

Program Planning & Evaluation:
. Researched and developed an interactive and informative station
pertaining to problem areas addressed by Healthy People 2010. The
target population was woman of childbearing age and focused on their
mental, physical and emotional health.
. Researched local facilities and programs that address the needs of the
target population. Distributed literature and contact information for
provided services.
The Hartville Migrant Center, Hartville, Ohio
Health/Integrated Social Studies:
. Developed a collaborative unit accompanied by study material and
pamphlets based on the current guidelines and steps needed to become a
citizen of the United States. The target population was the Mexican
migrant worker that travels to the area during the planting and
harvesting times of local crops.
. Topics discussed in the pamphlets were required immunizations for
migrant workers, common diseases of developing countries, cultural
norms associated with medical treatment, common barriers they may
encounter and study material for the naturalization test.
. Gained experience in cultural sensitivity for vulnerable populations
such as the Mexican migrant worker.
